"Ursa! Ursaring!" Echoed throughout the forest Ash was strolling through with Pikachu on top of his shoulder. "That sounds pretty close Bud we should probably go check it out," Ash said as he turned around toward the sounds that kept coming when they arrived at the location they saw an unfamiliar Pokemon trapped in a steel cage with spikes covering the top of the cage. Ash pulled out his Pokedex and pointed it at the Pokemon since he had yet to see this type of Pokemon. "What Pokemon is that?" Ash said and his Pokedex began reading the dex entry out loud.
Ursaring the Hibernator Pokemon Although a good climber, it prefers to snap trees with its forelegs and eat fallen berries.
"You're pretty strong huh...I'm guessing you tried to break the cage already and that's why you were roaring and the bars are a bit bent." Ash said and the Ursaring growled again. "Whoa we're not here to hurt you we're here to help," Ash said string to soothe the raging Ursaring who just growled once more all be a little more softly.
Me and Pikachu know how to open these things we've been doing it for a couple of days now so we've got this you have to be still..." Ash said to the trapped Ursaring who was thrashing about. "Here if you eat this you have to be still," Ash said as he pushed an Oran berry through the bars and the Ursaring stared at him before taking it and started going to town on the berry.
"Ok, Pikachu aim your Iron Tail at the upper corner of the cage since we've figured out that's the weak part of these cages. Be careful of the spikes we don't want what happened the first time we found these cages to happen again " Ash said as he shuddered in response, Pikachu nodded then jumped up and struck the corner and the cage shattered to pieces. Ursaring looks at them for a brief moment before wandering further into the woods. "What is that now sixth one in 4 days?" Ash asked Pikachu as the pair left the area. "Pika Pika," Pikachu responded. "There isn't a pattern either. The Pokemon haven't only been native to one region, haven't been the same type, and haven't been in the same stage of evolution. I believe it's just poachers being random for whatever reason..." Ash said as they walked.
"I don't know how long we've been out here...We need to visit a town soon to check the date because I've lost track of time for the most part." Ash said as he shrugged. The pair wandered around the forest for the rest of the day and fell asleep under a tree when the sun went down after eating some Oran berries for dinner. When they woke up the next morning they ate Pinap berries for breakfast before setting out once again.
At around midday the pair came across a flowing river and walked alongside it taking drinks every so often. After a while they found a branching-off channel with deep water and after checking for Pokemon Ash set his stuff down. "Let's take a bath because we won't know when we find a river again," Ash said as he and Pikachu got ready to clamber into the river.
When they were done they moved on searching for a town to figure out how long they'd been wandering and to see some actual people again. They walked and found another cage with a Smeargle inside of it and broke the cage once more before leaving.
"Hey Pikachu I think that's a town not that far off...Let's check it out tomorrow." Ash said as they watched the glow from the town in the night before going to sleep in some bushes for coverage from travelers. When the sun hit their faces early in the morning they headed toward the town.
"Mahogany town." Ash read the sign before he and Pikachu entered the town. "We've been here for Four months and have another four till Brock and Misty arrive so we've got time to kill...Wow, we've been here a while huh." Ash said as he and Pikachu saw a calendar with the date circled at the back of the store. "Let's pick up a canteen while we're here," Ash said to Pikachu as he strolled down an aisle. "This one looks good and looks like it can hold a lot of water," Ash said as he showed the Electric Mouse Pokemon who just chirped in response. Ash Went to the register and saw a tall man dressed in a robe, a medieval-looking navy blue shirt with orange accents just about everywhere, and a sturdy-looking pair of boots. He had long red hair and dark amber eyes and he looked at Ash in slight confusion before turning back to the cashier he was talking to allowing Ash to get help from someone. He bought his Canteen and quickly left heading toward the free refreshment center just outside the store and filled up the Canteen.
Once the Canteen was filled Ash began walking out of town in the opposite direction from where he came from. As they were passing through an area full of people a flash of red caught Pikachu's attention and he started pointing toward it and Ash only caught it out of the corner of his eye for just a moment. "It's nothing Pikachu and we've got to get going since it's time for lunch," Ash said as reached up and gave Pikachu a reassuring head pat. "Pika?" Pikachu said still looking in the direction before turning back toward the direction they were going in.
"Well, I know something to keep our minds off everything...Race you!" Ash yelled and it took Pikachu a moment to recover before taking off after his trainer. The chase went on for a while due to Ash and Pikachu both building up stamina and leg muscles from wandering all over Johto's vast wilderness and rugged terrain. When they finally stopped they were both out of breath and both of their lungs were burning. "I win," Ash said with a smile after catching his breath and Pikachu just shocked him lightly in response. "Oh alright...it was a tie," Ash said as he put his hat back on from when it fell on the ground. Pikachu nodded before jumping on Ash's shoulder and the pair set out once more.
They eventually found a river where Ash filled up the canteen, fed himself and Pikachu, took a bath further downstream, and washed his clothes in the flowing part of the river. Ash hung them up on a tree and waited for them to dry as he set up camp. Pikachu gathered a few small branches that he could carry for the fire while Ash grabbed larger branches and rocks to start the fire. Pikachu grabbed many leaves and vines so Ash made a small lean-to against a tree with the materials and he got dressed in his now-dry clothes. "I think we should stay here for a few days till we have to wash clothes again then move on," Ash said as he started the fire. "Pika Pika!" Pikachu cried out as he nodded and went to warm up by the fire his trainer started.
They ate roasted berries for dinner before they stargazed for a while then they went to sleep for the night...The next morning they were awoken by a loud "SNAP!!" causing them to bolt upright. "Sounds like another Pokemon got stuck in one of those cages," Ash said as he and Pikachu went off into the forest toward the sound of the snapping cage.
Ash slowed down in the tree line just before the clearing to look at the cage. "That's not a Pokemon..." Ash whispered as he walked slowly around the tree line to get a better look at the person. That's the guy from the store! Is he following us?? Ash thought as he slowly walked toward the cage. "Hey, can you help me get out of here?" The guy asked as he smiled at Ash trying to appear friendly and Ash just looked at Pikachu who understood and jumped up and used Iron Tail on the upper corner of the cage shattering it. Pikachu landed back on Ash's shoulder who was just staring silently at the man with no real expression on his face.
"Hey there my name's Lance thanks for helping me out. I was wondering if you could answer some questions I have?" Lance said and Ash didn't even try to hear out his explanation and he took off running panic gripping at his lungs. Ash ran back to his campsite hearing Lance behind him calling out to him saying to wait and that he wasn't in danger but Ash just grabbed his backpack mid-sprint and kept running.
Ash kept running till he couldn't hear Lance anymore and he climbed up a tree and he began hooping from Tree branch to tree branch watching the ground as well as covering more ground quicker and keeping out of sight. Ash had been trying this for a while but he tended to fall on the ground most of the time on his face after a few jumps. Ash didn't truly know why he reacted that way but he knew he doesn't want to be around any adults for any period of time whatsoever.
Hey there this is going to be a part of a special three-in-one-week update something I will not be doing often. As you can see Ash has kind of entered his complete wild child era with no Brock or Misty to ensure he doesn't co completely feral. Lance made an appearance a little earlier than I planned but hey he's here. The next chapter is going to be a Lance one so be prepared for that Chapter 4 might be a Lance one as well but I'm unsure. The tree hopping scene is heavily inspired by when The Freedom Fighters from Avatar The Last Airbender jump from Tree to Tree. I don't have much else to say so stay tuned for the next part and I hope you have a good day and I hope to see you tomorrow.-K
