"𝕴 do not think I have ever seen so many of you up this late." Celeste looked between her four roommates, who were all dressed for bed, hair in curlers and beauty products on their face. Celeste had not expected her chess game to take this long. "What can I do for you?"
"Well, Cece, since you are so fond of keeping the truth from us-" Celeste's heart sank, wondering whether they had found out that she was lying to them. "-but I do feel like perhaps this is something you should have told us."
"What?" Celeste looked between them, setting her bag down as she sank down onto her bed. Her heart was in her throat, fear gripping her heart.
"Well, it seems pretty clear to us now..." All four girls smiled as Celeste's heart sank further. They couldn't know. How could they have found out? She had been careful, she had made sure not to slip up, her papers looked almost real and she had never tripped up on her story around them. "You like Tom."
"Who?" It was taking a moment for Celeste to process their words, relief and horror washing over her in equal parts. She was met with unamused glares from her roommates.
"There is only one Tom that we know well enough for this conversation to be happening." Nedra rolled her eyes as the four of them laughed. Celeste swallowed her anxiety, beginning to shake her head and try to laugh off their comments. "Oh no, none of that. Shaking your head won't get you out of this."
"I think all four of you are delusional." Celeste laughed, setting her bag down as the others shared knowing looks. "No, truly, I do. I do not like Riddle."
"Celeste, I am going to have to hold your hand when I tell you this, but it is quite clear to all of us that you like him." Fran smiled gently, though there was a mischievous glint in her eyes. "The boys too."
"Men are men and have no mind for anything emotional." Walburga waved Fran off as Celeste began to dread the fact that Abaraxus had been gossiping with Walburga on this topic. "Cece, you are constantly around Tom-"
"We share the same classes."
"-night and day-"
"We have prefect duty together."
"-and he seeks out your company." Walburga did not seem perturbed by Celeste's denial of her statements. "He wishes to beat you or play you at chess consistently, I come down most Sunday mornings to the pair of you reading by the fire and let me not even get started on the flirting, sorry you call it bickering, that the pair of you constantly engage in."
"They all have perfectly reasonable explanations." Celeste promised.
"The explanations being you like him?" Celeste shot Walburga a look, rolling her eyes. "At the very least, he likes you."
