𝕴t snowed at the start of December.

Celeste had woken up one morning, trudged upstairs with her friend and found that the Great Hall had a dusting of snow on the table, despite the sunny weather above them in the ever changing ceiling. From then on, it had been snowing and now they were at the last few days of term.

Celeste hadn't been able to enjoy it much, having spent her time finishing assignments before her winter break and buying gifts for her friends before they too left.

"Come on." Celeste laughed, holding all of her gifts in one hand as she pushed open the door and followed her friends into the common room. It was the last night before winter break and their friendship group was exchanging gifts beside the fireplace, knowing that they wouldn't be around to do that at any point closer to Christmas what with all of them going home, and Celeste staying at Hogwarts.

She took her usual sofa seat beside Amelie, placing her gifts on the floor as she pulled her legs further up beneath her, warming her feet up from the cold stone.

"Alright, how are we doing this?" Celeste questioned. "All at once or one at a time."

"All at once, more chaos." Nedra suggested as gifts were rapidly exchanged between everyone, cards handed with them.

"I was worried Celeste would start handing out baguettes." Walburga joked, kicking her feet at Celeste who stuck her tongue out in response.

"Don't go ruining your birthday surprise, B. I'm going to have to get rid of the baguettes and find some berets, Merlin's beard." Celeste giggled before opening the card, reading that it was from Amelie. Inside was a beautiful diary, emerald green leather with her initials put on the back C. A. E. B. "Amelie, this is gorgeous."

Amelie had gotten everyone the same journal, a small smile on her face as she was complimented on it. It was a beautiful journal indeed, and Celeste traced her fingers across the pages. There was a chorus of agreement from the other girls, before Celeste opened the next card from Nedra, who had gifted her star earrings that dangle down like long chains, embedded with diamonds and crystals.

"For your name. You have a lack of star jewellery, Fran and I are attempting to fix that." Nedra joked as Fran laughed. Celeste opened Fran's next to find a matching necklace, adoring both of them. They were beautiful, but Celeste had this feeling that they were expensive. She didn't say anything knowing that pureblood children were very often not taught to give love freely, and instead show it through gifts.

Her final gift was from Walburga and she was quick to open it. It was a book on Dark Arts and Potioneering. Celeste flipped it over, reading over the brief and about the author before seeing that it was a first edition book.
