Lauren

I cannot wait to get out of high school. The first day isnt even over yet and I want to graduate. Senior year is supposed to be bittersweet. I should be happy about leaving and sad at the same time. But nope. I'm extremely happy.

I'm not a bitch I promise. Its just that I had a HORRIBLE summer and I just want to avoid about 99.99% of the high school. The .01% is my best friend, Miranda Holmes. She's amazing and I really don't know what I would do without her. Next year will be the first year we won't be in the same school which kinda of scares me. I guess this is where the bittersweetness comes in.

I am currently waiting outside her house so we can drive to our last first day of school. That has the most beautiful ring to it. Last first day of school.

The sound of my car door opening snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Heyyy Lauren. Thanks again for the last minute pick up. I should be getting my car back soon."

"Don't worry about girl I don't mind. I hate showing up to the school by myself anyway." I replied and we drove away. Miranda's French perfume flooded my nose as she slide in, wearing a white and blue polka dot romper and white sandals. She always dressed so cute considering her mom is fashion designer herself. Her hair was french braided on the side and pulled back into a low messy bun. She only wears her full face of makeup on the first day of school, the day before each break and the last day of school. I don't know why though because she can always do it so good. After all, I taught her everything I know. I too, look very cute today. I have a white lace top with cropped jeans and white Toms. Casual, but elegant ladies.

As I drove down the street, we passed the shortcut to Belver Township and we both faked gagged and turned up the radio. I missed driving with Miranda. This is the first year since freshmen year I got to spend the first day with her. The past two years I unfortunately was dating an asshole and we drove together everyday.

We live on the richer side of Manville. The side that actually has houses and grass and all. At our school, we're known as the Tregs. The side that is all trailers and dirt is Belver Township. They're known as the Belvs. Very original as you can tell. I don't really know how that exactly started, only that people got those names when both Catholic high schools in each township were shut down and Springfield was made. Now its some big rival between the two townships. Even teachers who went to school here don't talk to each other because of it.

Once we got to the school I dropped Miranda off at the front so she could go get us seats in the auditorium. For some reason every year the teachers, principals, and deans all make the same announcements before we get our official schedules.

The parking lot was almost completely full so I had to find a spot towards the back and basically sprinted to the front door.

When I got in I checked my phone and saw that Miranda texted me:

Sorry I know you're gonna hate the seats but please just sit w me. we are in the middle section row 5"

I got a knot in my stomach, if she's sitting with who I think she is, I'll kill her.

I walked in the auditorium passing all my school friends, attempting to dodge all the "what'd you do this summer?" "I love your new hair!" "I'm so sorry I heard about the break up! Other fish in the sea!" conversations.

I made it to row 5 and saw Miranda waving me over to the middle. I saw all the girls we hung out with plus some football players behind them. No one suspicious yet.

I took the seat next to Miranda and she sat faced me with a nervous smile.

"You're fine, I don't see anyone I would hate here." I told her. She kept the stupid smile and nodded her head to the right. I turned and the knot came back. I punched her in the shoulder and she shrieked in pain.
