They lost.
I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. Why did I agree to go out with him again? He cheated on me.
Cheated.
I sat in my car, waiting for Miranda. I could have waited for Brooks. Told him it wasn't a big deal. But I didn't want to rub it in his face.
Half the cars had left already, yet no sign of Miranda.
I checked the time: 9:43. The football players should be coming out right aboutttt now.
I saw the locker room doors burst open and they all came out. I watched for Brooks. Can't find him.
I do watch two guys go towards the rest of the cheerleading squad. I could have waited there too. But all those girls are fake. They are too wrapped in the ideal high school life. They're all in love with Brooks.
I watched closer as I saw the one player being pointed in my direction.
Are you kidding me?
It wasn't until he was about 5ft in front of my car that I realized it was Brooks.
I opened my door and stepped out before he could come any closer. He stopped when he saw me.
"Tough game," I said gently. He looked down and nodded.
"I only wanted to win so I could go out with you," he said quietly. Shit.
"Brooks look.." I started. But he looked up and his sad eyes made my chest hurt. It's not fair. Why does he have to look like that? Why can't I be strong.
No I can.
"Brooks, I shouldn't have told you if you won that I would go out afterwards," I said, now looking at my reflection on the hood of my car. "What you said was...good to hear, knowing that you don't actually hate me. But, that still doesn't change the fact you cheated on me or how you dealt with the break up." He staring puffing out his chest and he breathed heavier. he was getting mad.
"Thats bull shit Lauren. I apologized. I know it won't change but you can't just throw away what we had after one mistake!"He yelled.
"I was not the one who threw away the relationship, YOU did. A mistake would have been kissing her. You fucked her. I'm drawing the line. It is not bull shit. Just stay away." I say, surprisingly holding in my tears. He punched the hood of my car and screamed then walked away.
Miranda came up the second he left. she tried to give me a hug but I pulled away and got in the car.
"So Josh kind of asked me out... I can go tell him never mind though, if you want to come over and watch movies or eat or whatever," she said as she came up to my window. She tried to cover up her disappointment but I could tell it was there. She didn't care about this shit. OF course she didn't, why would she.
"No, you should go," I said. She didn't even double check, she squealed and shouted a thanks on her way to Josh. Nice.
I raced home and flopped on my bed. My parents were away on business and my little brother slept over his friends house. It would have been a perfect time to have someone come over.
That's it.
I get my phone out of my bag and look through my messages.
JJ.
I texted him telling him to come over, no questions asked.
