IT IS MY FIRST DAY OF HIGH SCHOOL.

I REPEAT: MY FIRST DAY OF HIGH SCHOOL.

WHAT IS EVEN GOING ON.

So what I've had 6 cups of coffee? So what I've been up since 4 a.m.? SO WHAT.

I have been waiting for this moment since the last day of 8th grade. And THAT is why I am the first one in the school right now. I was waiting outside for 10 minutes before one of the janitors felt bad and let me in. I watched ever single upperclassmen ambassador come in and sign in. Then I watched as the teachers set up white tables and then put papers in big piles across each. I was too busy watching all the preparations to notice that there was someone behind me.

"Were you told the wrong time?" I shrieked out, and turned around to see THE HOTTEST GUY EVER. His dirty blonde hair was gelled back on the sides and spiked up in the front. His name tag read "Derek" and his smirk was driving my stomach crazy.

"Uh-um-uh yeah" I said, looking away from his blinding blue eyes. I felt my face heating up.

"Well, what's your name? I can get your schedule real quick and give you the real inside scoop on the classes." He said, showing off his perfect white teeth every time he opened his mouth.

"Uh, um its Cassandra, but you can call me Cassie or Cass or Cassandra or Cassandy. That's what my dad called me. But most people call me Cassie since its short and sweet, and you know it rolls off the tongue. Or you can call me Sandy now that I think about it, cause Cassandra." I stopped my self and felt my eyes go wide. "Oh my god."  I whispered. Derek started laughing and stuck his hands in his pockets.

"I think I'll stick to Cassie. Last name?"

"Zinc" I said quickly,  avoiding eye contact this time. WHY WOULD I SAY SANDY. WHY DID I KEEP TALKING. WHY AM I SUCH A LOSER.

"Okay Cassie Zinc, I will be right back." I nodded and once the coast was clear, I slapped myself in the forehead. How am I supposed to survive in high school if I can't even tell someone my name.

"Don't worry, he has that effect on everyone." I spun around and saw an older girl smiling at me with her hand reaching out to me. "I'm Lauren, I'm one of Derek's friends." Oh my gosh, she just saw all of that.

"Hi I'm-"

"Cassandra, Cassie, Cass, Sandy, Cassandy. Yup I heard all those wonderful names. I like Cassie also." I felt my face heat up again and looked at the floor. "You know, you're doing pretty good for freshman though." She said laughing again.

"Huh?"

"I mean, you got Derek Cleaver to come up to you, you made Derek laugh, you don't look like the usual awkward freshmen and you're early enough to actually meet the student ambassadors and talk to us before we have to act scary and tough." My jaw dropped.

"Sc-scary and t-t-tough?" I asked as she laughed again. I don't know why she thinks I'm so funny because I'm literally doing nothing extra. Lauren was extremely pretty. Like model pretty. She had a blonde bob style and she had really pretty brown eyes. She had on a blue polo and tan shorts and she looks 400094908x better than me. I'm in a gray shirt that goes down to my mid thigh with a red, blue and white flannel and white sandals. My brown hair is in a french braid down my back and I had my mom do my make up. I was so so happy with my look today until I saw her.

"Well yeah, we can't just have anyone talking to us!" She said playfully pushing my shoulder. My eyes grew wide and I immediately turned around. "Oh my gosh Cassie I'm playing! But we do try to keep freshmen in line, nothing is worse than an obnoxious freshmen."
"A-Am I obnoxious?" I asked trying to study her face.

"No no I don't think so, I just think a little nervous," I nodded my head at her observation and she smiled. "Well like I said, I'm Lauren so if you need anything at all, do not hesitate to find me." I muttered a thank you and a smile and turned to see Derek standing right next to me. I don't know how I didn't notice because all I can smell now his is cologne and I don't think I will ever want to smell anything else in this world.

"Okay Cassie so I worked my magic and wa-la! Here you go." He said as he handed me my schedule. I started hearing other people coming talking around us but every time I looked at Derek, he was already looking at me.

"Okay so first I have Baking and Pastries, Art 1, Freshmen English, study hall, and 9th grade gym. " I said, kind of disappointed with his reaction. "What's wrong?" I asked.

"Well, I just met you and I already know I will never see you again!" He said shaking his head. "We have 0 classes, if you have study hall that means you will have first lunch and I already know I have the third lunch and none of my classes are near yours." Wait, was he actually upset we didn't have a class together? "I just feel bad for you Cass, you won't be able to enjoy your days without me." At that I giggled and rolled my eyes.

"Oh my gosh Derek! You actually scared me!" I jokingly punch him in the arm and he laughed.

"Hey you're a freshman! You can't do that!" I folded my arms and raised my eyebrows.

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah, now you have to make it up to me!" He said folding his arms right back at me. There was a growing pit of my stomach when he said that.

"Oh no, how am I supposed to do that!" I said, watching him laugh.

"All you have to do is come to my football game tomorrow night." I was confused, that was it?

"Really? That's all? I can do that!" He shook his head.

"AND you have to wear my number on your face." what. WHAT. My eyes got wide. "That's right. I want you to write 34 right next to your pretty little eye." He said as his poked the side of my face.

"U-u-u-um D-Derek that's like for-"

"My number one fans, yes correct. I need to go start helping other scared freshmen, I'll see you later." He said as winked. what. just. happened.
