My heart was in my stomach. I can't do this, what was I thinking?
I made eye contact with Santiago right as I started turning around. Marco was already gone and now two huge muscley guys stood in my way of the exit.
"Can I help you baby girl?" He calm, seductive voice sent shivers up my spine. I mean he was very attractive, I can't lie but.
"Uh..oh, me?" I ask innocently. Any confidence I had talking to Marco was gone.
"Are you the new waitress, cause you were supposed to be here an hour ago," He says, getting serious.
"No-no, I wanted to talk to you, but I- uh think I made a mistake," I reply quickly, trying to rush out. But those two guys were still there, bouncing me back and almost running into Santiago.
"Well, clearly my playroom is making you nervous, why don't we go into my office?" He nodded and behind me and started to lead me back to the doors, my whole body practically melting under his hand on the small of my back.
When I realized his enterage was behind us, I thought of something: were they going to gang rape me? Oh my gosh. I stopped dead in my tracks, causing him to bump into me.
"Just us?" I ask, staring at the ground.
"Yes, baby, Philip and Rocco are just going to guard the door." he says, again in an sexy voice.
"I-I'm only 17," I say, stopping again.
"That's the least of my concerns," He pushes my a little harder this time, forcing me out of the "playroom" and into the holding area. He pulls out a key ring from his jeans, opens the door and motions me to go in. He's smiling, but not there's nothing friendly about him.
The walls are brick as well, dark hard wood floors and a medium sized glass desk in the middle of the room. I sit in one of the white cushion chairs facing the far wall, which is decorated in pictures and posters, not playboy or anything, just bands and stuff. Santiago shuts the door, walks past me, a little too close for comfort but I'm sure he doesn't care, and sits at the red leather chair across from me. His desk is neat, a pen holder, lamp, some papers off the side in a neat pile. Clearly he doesn't work in here very often.
"Okay, baby girl, what can I help you with?" He leans his head on both his hands, staring at me with a slight grin. He can definitely tell I'm scared. He eyes study my face, their chocolate color taking over my whole brain.
Mo,
Snap out of it.
It's clear the only way I can talk is if I'm not looking at him.
I close my eyes, take a deep breath and start explaining, eyes still closed. "Ollie Marx. I'm here to pay of his debt so you can stop hurting him and an extra 100 so you can just leave him alone and never sell to him again." I say quickly. I hear him start to chuckle.
"Why are you eyes closed baby girl?"
"So I can actually get words out."
"Hm, well baby girl, I have another question," I nod, "why is this bitch Marx sending a pretty little thing like you to pay his debt off?" I tighten my legs and put my hands together to control myself.
"He doesn't know I'm here, he's a family friend and I'm tired of finding him hurt and sending him to the clinic."
"You're Maureen Rossi?" He asks astonished. I open my eyes, to see him with his mouth open, not looking all over my body, making sure it's really me. I nod slowly, trying to figure out why he's so surprised.
"D-Dana's sister?" He's the one stuttering?
"You knew her?" He nodded fast and cleared his throat.
"Sorry I will not take your money. You need to leave now." His soft voice was replaced with a cold, serious one. He stood up and went to the door, now avoiding my eyes.
"Please, please, leave him alone," I beg, I took out the cash and put it on his desk.
"No, take it. I'm serious Maureen. Take it and get out. He can pay off his own debt." What the hell is going on?
"I'm not leaving until you promise to leave him alone!" I say, eyes shut again so I wouldn't stutter. I heard him walking and suddenly the smell of cologne was right in front of me.
"He has a week to pay me back. His own way. Not your cash. Now get out of here." He say, shoving my money back in my bag.
I got past him, satisfied with the break he'll get.
I ran up the stairs and back into the diner where I saw a frantic Marco come up to me.
"How'd it go? Are you ok?" He said, moving me around, making sure I wasn't hurt.
"Went fine. Weird though, I think he knew Dana," I say, Marco gave me a puzzled look.
"Really, isnt't your sister younger than him though?" I nodded and he shrugged.
"I guess I'll talk to Ollie about it. Thanks Marco, I owe you one," I smile and he returns it.
Finally time to go home.
