"Come one! IT will be fun!" Paige pleaded over the phone. My stomach hurt. How could I face everyone all at once?
"I don't know, what if I see them! Or their friends!" I exclaim, shifting positions in my bunk.
"Who cares? They are going to be gone in a couple of months and you'll have nothing to worry about. If you let them bully you into not going to football games, what else are you going to let them bully you out of?" I knew she was right. She always was.
"Oh my gosh, fine," I say. She started to scream but immediately stopped. I could hear the yelling and then the phone went dead. I wasn't too worried, she'd probably just get a slap, nothing too detrimental. It's not even 6 yet, he can't be that drunk.
I pulled up my hair and slid into jean shorts and a Springfield t-shirt from last year.
I quietly tip-toed past my sleeping sister and walked down the block to Paige's trailer.

The walk to the school was silent. She tried hiding her pain but I could tell every time she moved something hurt. But I know better than to ask about it.
"Okay, so, once we get in there, we can just stand at the fence. That way, we aren't forced to socialize, okay?" she asks, clutching onto the railing of the steps to the entrance. I nod and we pay for our tickets.
Once we get in there, Paige waves to some other girls in our grade but stays by my side. Underclassmen aren't allowed in the student section, so any 9th and 10th graders at the game were supposed to stay in the front.
"Hey isn't that Brooks's slut?" I froze. My face drained and my chest was heavy. We turned and saw two cheerleaders standing behind me smiling. I recognized the one, Miranda Holmes. Brooks Cleaver's ex girlfriend's best friend. Small world.
"Sorry are you talking to us?" Paige says, taking a step forward so she's in front me.
"No. Just to the skank. You're all good baby doll." She crosses her arms and looks at me, waiting for a response.
"I-I didn't mean to," is all I could manage before she lets out an obnoxious, fake laugh.
"Yeah okay. Just watch yourself." And with that they walked away and to the rest of the cheerleaders. Wonderful.
I felt the tears forming, Paige's quickly ushered me to the bathroom.
"Tan, cmon don't let them get to you. It's none of her business anyway." She says and she rubs my back in the handicap stall.
"Why was I even at that stupid party? I should have just stayed home." I sob.
"Because it was supposed to be fun. No one knew what was going to happen. Brooks is an asshole. He's the one who was in the relationship. He's one that came onto you. You can't keep blaming yourself," she said.
"Yeah but I knew he had Lauren." I say. She was silent, but kept rubbing my back.
"Let's go back out and watch some of the game. Then we can go back to Freddy's." She suggests. I'd rather not but I don't want to ruin her night. I nod my head, wipe my face and head back out.
It was now half way through the first quarter and everyone was watching. I gave a little silent praise to God.
"Looks there's Ryan and his friends! Let's, go talk to them," I looked over and saw a group of JV soccer players in a small circle. Ryan was laughing, so care free. It was weird seeing him talking to him rather than me and Paige.
"Hey Ry!" Paige said. He half hugged her and smiled brightly, then did the same with me. The boys he was talking to had their eyes glued to Paige. She was always getting their attention. She has flawless, olive skin, long dark hair that came to her butt, her bubble butt I should say, and light blue eyes. I masterpiece really.
"Yo, you guys coming out tonight? Jay Dawson is throwing a party, all sophomores are invited." One of the soccer players asked.
"Hmm I think me and Tanner were just gonna go back to my house," she said, causing a lot of disapproving glances.
"Well, we can think about it," I chimed in. The guys next to me looks excited, nodded at me and then to Paige. She gave me a skeptical look but shrugged and continued wooing the boys.
