Part 21

You went to school, and everything seemed normal at first. The teacher came back with the test you had done a few classes prior. She handed them out and everyone was disappointed at their grades, even Peter got a B. You seemed to be
the only one who got an A, and a full marks A at that. When the class finished you headed for the door, but the teacher stopped you and pulled you to the side. She waited until everyone left and turned to you.

T: "Y/n, I know you have missed a lot of school this year, but this-" (she held your test in front of you), "this is over the top."

You looked at her confused; you didn't know what she was talking about. Y/n: "I'm sorry if I upset you
in any way, but I'm not sure I understand-"

T: "Oh, don't play dumb with
me young lady, you know what you did, and I don't appreciate your dishonesty

Y/n: "I'm not lying,l just
don't understand what the
issue is.."

T: "And you continue to lie
straight to my face, I'm not
going to tolerate this
behavior miss Romanoff."
You smiled when she used
Nat's surname which set her
off even more.

T: "Oh, you find this funny
now, huh?" "I have had
enough of you; you can go
and wait at the principal's
office 'tillI call your mother
and then we will continue
this conversation." "And
here I was thinking you
would just confess to
cheating, but now you kids
nowadays think you can get
away with anything."

Cheating, what was she on
about? You went to say
something, but she pushed
you out of the classroom and
closed the door.
Defeated, you made your
way to the principal's office as Peter, who waited for you,
went with you.
You told him what just
happened.

P: "Well, you are the only
one who got an A from the
whole class, and not just that
you got full marks-

Y/n: "Well yeah, the test was
super easy-

P: "No, it wasn't." " Well, for
you it was, but the teacher
doesn't know and can't know
that, so she probably thinks
you cheated-

Y/n: "I'm a lot of things, but
a cheater isn't one of them."

(At that moment you arrived)
"Well, I guess I better prepare to get yelled at by Nat.'

P: "Hey, she won't be mad, just say the truth and you willbe good." "Oh, and if they still don't believe you,
well then you can always prove it and ask the teacher to ask you anything from the topic, but don't oversell it or it will look suspicious.

Y/n: "Thanks Peter."
(Yougave him a thankful smile
before walking in)
Not long after the teacher
came in and stated her case
to the principle, you just sat
there waiting for Nat as you
didn't want to do anything
wrong. When it came to
interrogation, you could
make everyone crack, but
when you needed to seem
like a normal kid... well that
just wasn't your piece of
cake.
Nat came not long after and
sat next to you, taking your
hand to stop you from
digging you nails into your
skin which you did every
time you weren't sure of
what to do, fearing the
consequences, even if there
weren't any.
Principle: "Ah, miss
Romanoff." "We're sorry to
call you here on such short
notice, but it has come to
our attention that Y/N has
been taking the easy way out
when it comes to studying.

N:"I'm not sure if I follow,
could you please elaborate?"

(She said in a cold tone as if
someone was attacking her
personally.)

T: "Well here", (she handed
Nat your test) "This is her
last test.'

N: "I don't see anything
wrong here, if anything, this
is a good thing."

T: "Well yes, certainly in
normal conditions this would
be-"

N: "In normal conditions?"

T: "Well yes, Y/n has missed
a lot of school, and was the
only one that got an A....

N: "So, let me get this
straight, you called me here
to tell me you think she
cheated on a test." "And did
you maybe ask her about
this?"

T: "Well, I tried but she kept
acting as if she didn't know
what I was talking about."

Y/n: (you cleared your throat) "Well, I really didn't, I knew all the material and- "So, you expect us to
believe you are the only kid
that succeeded to study for
this exam, and that is not
considering you absences."

Y/n: (well this isn't going
anywhere; I might as well
just do what Peter told me)
"I'd be more than happy to
answer any of you questions
on the topic right now.'

N: "That would prove she
didn't cheat, correct?"

P:"Well yes but-

N:" Perfect, we're all here as
witnesses."

The teacher proceeded to
ask you complex questions
about the topic, and you
answered all of them flawlessly. Her face more and more confused as each question was answered. After you were done,she just stood there stunned stunned.

N: "Well, now that this is all
done, I think I'll take Y/n
home for the day.

P: (Who was genuinely
scared of Nat) "Why
yes...um... of course.
You left with Nat hugging
you around your shoulder.

N: "I'm proud of you, you
know that?"
Y/n: "Yeah, - I know.
You drove home together
but all Nat could think about
is something like this
happening again. She
wanted to tell you that you
should play down how much
you knew but didn't know
how to phrase it and not
sound like all the people who
have been in your life prior
to her. She just kept it to
herself, at least for now.
She shook her head and turned on the radio.
