the rest of the day went by slowly. i worked on painting one spot of the wall, it was going nicely, i was painting Oberon, it looked just like him. The eyes were the hardest part, i was unsure weather to give him the kind eyes that i know or the scary eyes he can get at times.

"damn it." i said as i painted his kind eyes. i was right, this was a good escape from my thoughts. looking at the paint i saw that i was out of yellow to be able to make the green i needed. "well that is unfortunate."

i set my brush down and stood. i looked at my dress, and luckily there was no paint on it. there was no mirror in the room to check the rest of me though.

i walked to the door. maybe exploring my surroundings a bit would help me keep my mind calm. i opened the door and peeked out, no one there guarding it? i walked down the stone hall, past the cages and into the main cavern with the lake above us.

i was in awe like the first time i saw this.

"first time here i see." i turned to see a dark fairy leaning against the cave wall. his wings were like a Luna moths, his hair was also green.

"it is." i answered, looking to the ceiling. "this place is amazing."

"its not often we find a human here." he walked close to me. "how are you not sick from the shear amount of magic around us?"

"because i am not human." i watched as a large fish swam above us.

"you look human." he said. "what are you doing here?"

"i am part dragon and part elf." i looked at him. "Oberon brought me here."

"that would make you the sacrifice for the harvest festival." he smiled, looking smug. "why are you not in a cage?"

"because he knows i wont run." i answered him honestly.

"and why would that be?" he asked, looking me up and down.

"because its either me or one of my loved ones." i smiled, "i choose to sacrifice myself."

"you know why you are being sacrificed?" he took another step closer. "this is a yearly event, but this time is the first time the moon will be right to do what needs to be done."

"yearly?" i backed up a bit. "what do you mean by yearly?"

"we sacrifice a human yearly to open the doors to the fairy realm, to toy with the light fairy king and kill some light fairies." he started to laugh.

"thats horrible." i could not believe this. "why is this year so special?"

"because we get to kill the light fairy king at last." he laughed again. "about time, that guy sucks, always fighting us off."

"that explains why he is never home this time of year." it slipped out before i could stop myself.

"what do you mean by that?" he took another step closer, he was now in my face.

i took a deep breath. "hes my father."

"that light fairy king is your father?" he smiled. "you are being forced to sacrifice yourself to kill your own father? our king has chose the perfect sacrifice this year."

"its not like i have a choice." i crossed my arms. "its me or a sibling, i will not let my siblings get hurt."

"so your just stupid." he looked at my hand and grabbed it, the one with the rose etched in. "Oberon's blessing. why the hell would he give you a blessing if he attends to kill you? do you have any idea what a fairy kings blessing means?"

"i dont." i answered honestly.

"a fairies blessing is part of their soul," he told me. "to give someone a blessing is to someone means that he will protect them with their life or to lose a part of themself."

"but i am to be sacrifice." i looked down at my hand. "he attends to lose part of himself when killing me."

he grabbed my neck, digging his nail in. "what did you do."

"i... i told him that if he chooses one of my loved one, i will break a deal we made, therefor i would die anyway." i said, his nails drawing blood.

"you gave him no choice but for you to die." he started to squeeze tighter. "he will kill you rather then a family member because he would rather kill you himself rather than breaking a deal with you."

"let her go, Lunar." Oberon's voice sounded from behind me.

i fell to the ground as Lunar let me go. i gasped for air, tears going down my face. Oberon knelt down to me. "are you okay?" he almost growled. i nodded, unable to talk and he stood, grabbing Lunars throat. "she is not to be touched by anyone here, understand."

he nodded.

"good." Oberon threw him off of the ledge into the cavern. he used his wings to catch himself and flew off.

Oberon turned back to me, i was holding where my neck was bleeding, trying to hide it from him. "let me see." he growled.

i shook my head, looking to the ground.

he pulled my hands away from my neck. "i should have killed him."

"i... im okay." i managed to get out, knowing that my neck was surly bruised, the pain burning.

"you are not okay." he wrapped his wings around us and placed his own hand around, i could feel a bit of a sting, i knew he was healing me.

"why didnt you tell me that you were giving me a part of yourself by giving me your blessing?" i asked once i was healed.

"because i did not know who you were when i did." he answered, still looking mad. "why didnt you keep your mouth shut when talking the Lunar?"

"because i hate lying." i answered him. "its what got us in this situation."

he scooped me into his arms and stood to his feet. he walked back towards his room. "i know i said you could explore, but please, wait for me to escort you next time, we can go wherever you want."

"i wouldn't have left the room." i looked at the rose on my hand. "but i ran out of yellow paint."

"yellow paint?" he raised an eyebrow as he pushed open his door, setting me on the bed.

i pointed to the wall with the image of him. "i wanted to get your eyes right, but i figured i could wait to see you again to ask."

"is this how you see me?" he stepped closer to the painting. "it is beautiful, i thought you would see me as a monster."

"i could never." i walked over to stand next to him. "you are not a monster."

"you heard about the sacrifices right?" he turned to look at me. "how they happen every year."

"i did." i shrugged. "but who am i to judge another's culture."

"you think in such a strange way." he brushed a hair from my face.

"i grew up with four cultures." i looked into his eyes. "humans, elves, fairies, and dragons. they all have parts that others would think of as strange."

"why am i so drawn to you?" he asked, his face getting closer to mine.

i could feel my heart beating faster once more. "i do not know." i looked down from his gaze. "please dont."

"dont?" he backed up, sounding offended. "dont kiss you?"

"if you get too attached to me then you will never be able to kill me." i answered. "its not that i dont want to kiss you. but what if you chose to take a family member from me instead because you cant kill me? i cant take that chance, im sorry."

"i see." he turned to look at the painting. "tomorrow i will bring you some yellow paint. tonight you can have the bed."

"do you not eat down here?" i asked, stumach growling.

he turned to look at me. "i am so sorry. fairies can go a longer time without eating, sometimes i forget that you humans need food a few times a day. i will go get something for you to eat." he walked to the door.

"thank you, Robin." he paused, glancing back at me before leaving.
