i turned to face the dark fairies. "tell them to move aside Mother." i said, talking about her own me. i looked to Robin. "i hope you have a speech for them."
Robin nodded.
"make way!" mother yelled to her men as Robin and i stepped forward.
they parted to let us pass. i held out my hand, focusing on using my powers to gather just the dark fairies into a dome.
when i had finished i stood there, holding them still. Mother's men backed up, with the fighting now done.
"i wont be able to hold her for long." i told Robin.
"you cant." i felt mother place a hand on my shoulder, sending power to me. "but we can."
Robin nodded, then spoke loud and clear. "Fairies of the dark court. you need to end this now, or we will be forced to kill all of you."
"let us go Oberon." a slender fairy with white moth wings hissed. "what the hell are you playing at?"
he ignored her. "as you can see, i have allied with the Great Dragon and the light fairy king. their daughter, who was once to be a sacrifice, now belongs to me, she is to be your queen."
this made the fairies even madder.
"she is not one of us." one yelled. "you want a human to be our queen! the daughter of the light king at that."
"i do." he spoke calmly. "look at her and feel those powers. she may look human, but she is far from it."
"has she bewitched you with her powers?" the moth lady asked.
"no Lucinda." he answered. "i fell in love with her before she had those powers, and long before i knew who she was."
Father stepped forward. "we wish for peace for both of our people, these pointless sacrifices and wars need to end, now."
"he has killed countless numbers of us." a fairy with monarch wings spoke.
"only because we invaded his lands, looking to kill his own people." Robin answered.
"you swore to us that you would kill him this morning." Lucinda spoke once more. "why are you not dead from breaking our laws?"
"because of me." i spoked loudly. "not only can i hold you all back, i can break fairy law."
the gasps and whispers among them grew louder.
"kill her!" one yelled. "we can not have a monster like her rule over us."
"is that not what a king or queen should be able to do anyway?" mother spoke. "they command their people, and if they find something unjust, they decide weather or not to enforce a law. why should the fairy king be any different?"
"what does having an alliance offer us in return?" Lucinda asked. "how will we benefit from this? our lands still lay below a lake underground."
"they dont have to." mother spoke. "your kingdom is within my territory and within my daughters kingdom."
i thought for a moment. "we can build a village at the caves entrance, so that the fairies who favor the light can remain on the surface and the fairies who prefer the dark can remain underground. mother once built a village in a short amount of time, im sure we could do that again."
"swear on it." she hissed. "and do not break it. swear that you will be the queen we deserve."
i looked to the group of dark fairies. thinking of a way to do this without even being able to break this one. "i swear to all of you, on my own life, to be not only the queen you deserve, but a queen you can be proud of. i swear to protect all of you until my last breath and stand by your king, Oberon's side always."
"good enough for me." Lucinda smiled, the others agreeing with her.
i let down the barrier blocking them from us. "we do not need this." i turned to Robin. "did i do okay?"
"you did perfect." he smiled as he placed his hand on the side of my face.
the next thing i knew, i felt a pain going through me. i looked down, a sword poking in front of me. "i dont think i will be able to stand by your side after all, my sweet Robin."
"what did you do Lucinda?" Robin sounded mad as he went to steady me.
i could see my mother and father racing to my side. Robin raised his hand, killing Lucinda with one snap.
"hold on there my star." Robin focused on healing me, as he slowly pulled the sword out, it wasnt working.
i reached up and wiped a tear from his face. "dont cry, just keep your deal with my father, even if i...." i coughed up blood.
mother worked on trying to heal me. "its not working, why is it not working?"
"it was a fairy weapon." Robin spoke sadly, as i started to feel cold. "a wound with a fairy weapon can not be healed."
"i..." i tried to talk. "i... love you."
"you are going to live Astraea." his face was full of tears. "there is another...."
i stopped being able to hear anything. everything going foggy, then black.
