Maya
Once I get home I say hi to my parents. My cousin, Edward, was home and sitting on the couch talking to my dad. He had gone on the trip a couple of times already and because of that, this year he decided to skip it and go visit his girlfriend out of state.
"What's up cousi, how was the trip?" he asks.
"Edward, you should have gone! New York is so beautiful and I would have loved to have gone with you," I hug him. I didn't realize how much I had missed him.
"Well, we still have next year," he says. "Besides, I went to see Veronica and let's just say that was more exciting than seeing tall buildings," he tells me.
I analyze what he just said and realize he is talking about something completely off topic.
"Ew," I tell him. "Keep the details to yourself please." I beg him.
He laughs and follows me to my room.
"So," he starts, "tell me, how was the trip really?"
"I already told you. It was nice, but I missed having you there."
"Did Gregory go?" he asks.
"Why are you asking?" I reply back.
"Because, I'm curious to know," he says.
"He went. Actually we rode there together because I got there late and the bus had just left," I tell him the truth.
"What?? You rode with a complete stranger, a man, all the way to New York?"
"It wasn't just a stranger, it was Gregory, Edward, and aren't you friends with him?"
"That is so not the point," he tries to defend himself.
We both laugh at the fact I was lucky Gregory was not some sort of serial killer.
He helps me unpack and we eat dinner together, Edward leaves late and I end up once again, alone, with my thoughts.

Gregory
I get home. My parents are not here as usual and I decide to eat dinner, once again, alone at my dining table.
After eating I take a shower and dump all of my clothes in the dirty laundry, the housekeeper returns with my siblings (since she is also the babysitter) and they immediately jump on me. I put Crystal down.
Crystal, my little sister is smiling up at me and I pick her up once again.
"How was the trip?" she asks me.
"It was great, one of these days we should all go together," I tell her.
"Yeahhh!!" Justin screams from my back.
"Hi Gregory, I hope all went well on the trip" says Virginia, the housekeeper/babysitter.
"Hey Virginia, yup, thankfully everything went well."
"Did anything exciting happened?" She asks.
"Why do you ask?" I say a little surprised by her sudden interest in me.
"Well, your face seems a little more lit up than usual," she replies. "You seem a little happier than when you left."
Unexpectedly, with no warning and leaving me absolutely confused, Maya's face with her smile pop up in my head, inhabiting my mind.
I do not realize I am just staring, daydreaming, until Virginia waves in front of my face and asks if I am okay. I nod and give my siblings each a hug and tell them good night.
I go up the stairs to my room and immediately lay down, trying to get that smile out of my mind and fall asleep.
