RIGHT WHERE YOU LEFT ME
ANGELA GIARRATANACHAPTER THIRTY-NINE
"IT TRULY TAKES A VILLAGE"°°°
KENNEDY felt her jaw dropped as angela juggled a crying baby in her arms.
"hey, can, you- oh, it stopped." angela stammered, fumbling the now quiet fake infant into the blonde's arms.
"oh-" kennedy said as she adjusted the baby in her arms.
"okay." angela sighed, running her hand through her own hair. "kennedy, this is baby cho, baby cho, this is your aunt kennedy!" angela said in a sweet baby voice, making an excited face into the camera that was following her.
"baby what?" kennedy laughed. "cho?"
"could you maybe hold him during our meeting for games?" angela asked, frantically skipping passed kennedy's question.
"sure, anything for my nephew." kennedy smiled blankly, keeping up the act that her and angela were "just friends" on camera.
angela let out a sigh of relief. "you're great, thank you." the moment felt like on that would have resulted in a small kiss, but instead, angela turned towards the camera.
"it's like a babysitter on the go... like a nanny on the go." angela said. she was walking to the games stage, with brennan following with the camera and kennedy following with baby cho.
"i will pay you in so many- so many... hugs." angela continued.
"mmh, i'm alright." kennedy said as the camera panned to her, adding to the banter.
"do you mind if i bring my babysit- kennedy in with me?" angela asked alex once they made it to the meeting.
"oh, absolutely." alex said kindly.
"ang, we've met." kennedy said.
angela looked back at her girlfriend, nodding. "okay, you've met."
kennedy laughed as they walked over to the couch. taking a seat, kennedy and angela both worked to set the baby in between them. they then cuddled up closer together as alex began explaining the game.
then, the baby began to cry. kennedy held back laughter as angela scrambled to sooth him, holding him upright on her chest and bouncing lightly.
the crying was getting louder and angela was losing the rules to the game, asking clarifying questions as baby cho grew louder.
tension was rising in the room and angela was frantically trying to quiet her new son.
"angela, can you please make it stop?" chanse snapped.
"can you just like, love it?" alex asked.
kennedy covered her laughter with a hand, finding her girlfriend's maternal struggling to be a little endearing and a lot funny.
"you think i'm not loving it?" angela asked, befuddled.
"ang, you just need to hold him better." kennedy finally stepped in. "move it like you love him."
angela hurried to stand up and bounce him, telling alex to keep explaining the game. she was dramatically swinging him, trying not to freak out on the robotic screaming machine. she sat back down and stuck a key in his back, finally quieting him.
"aww, good job mama!" kennedy shook angela's shoulder as angela leaned back into the couch.
angela rubbed her face, letting the stress wash over her as kennedy pretended to play with baby cho. "i'm just gonna take a nap.
