Michael nods, his jaw clenched. "Come on, let's get out of here." He leads her away from the theater, his hand comforting on her back. They walk in silence for a few minutes, the sound of their shoes on the sidewalk the only company.
At least I will always love you?" he says, his voice gentle.
Brooklynn looks up at him, her eyes still wet. "What?"
"I said, at least I will always love you," Michael repeats, his voice rough this time. He looks at her eyes.
Brooklynn's eyes widen in surprise. "What do you mean?" she asks, her voice trembling.
Michael stops, turning to face her. "I mean, you're my best friend. No matter what happens with these guys, I'll always be here for you."
Brooklynn looks at him, her eyes searching his. "Of course even if you leave ill make you stay."
Michael smiles sadly, "Brook, I'd never leave you even if you didnt have dirt." He says.
Brooklynn laughs through her tears, "sure buddy" She leans into him, feeling his totally strong muscles, the kind that's been there for her through thick and thin. It's a comfort she didn't realize she needed until now.
