He opens the fridge to find leftover pizza and a half-empty bottle of soda. Grabbing a slice, he takes a bite and flops onto the couch. The TV flickers with the latest reality show, but he's not really watching. Instead Michael goes up to his room turns on his led lights and lays on his bed.
The room is a sanctuary of posters and band merchandise, a testament to his vibrant spirit. He thinks about Brooklynn and her date tomorrow. He can't help but feel a twinge of something - envy, maybe? But that's stupid. It's more like he feels left out like he's tired of being the wingman over and over. Or maybe it's just he's hungry he ends up falling asleep anyway.
The next day drags by like a stubborn mule, each minute feeling like an eternity. During math class, Brook steals glances at Percy, her heart fluttering every time their eyes meet. When the bell finally rings, signaling the end of the school day, she jumps out of her seat, eager to escape to the promised land of romance.
As they walk out of the school building, Percy glances at his phone. "I need to take this you mind?"
