Chapter 3

Rileys POV

I had seen pretty girls before. Some could maybe even classify as beautiful. But nobody would ever be anywhere near as perfect as her.

Her long, honey coloured hair, even in a ponytail, was beautiful. Her light green eyes were the most beautiful colour Ive ever seen. I was lost in them.

The second I laid eyes on her, I wanted to hug her. To hold her, to even be close to her. Her scent was intoxicating, she smelled like roses.

I wanted to hear her voice, talk to her. I wanted to know her, be her best friend.

But above all of these feelings, my wolf howled inside me.

Mate.

He howled the word over and over, and I noticed the confused expression on her flawless face.

She didnt know.

She hasnt shifted yet and then I realized, she didnt know about us at all.

My heart clenched when I realized how confused she must be.

I quickly mindlinked my dad saying I needed to talk to him.

"Ill talk in a bit, in pack meeting." He responded a few seconds later.

I sighed and watched as my mate sat down beside me, looking scared.

I wanted to put my arms around her, comfort her, but I know I couldnt yet.

"Hi" I said quietly, watching as she stiffened and turned to face me.

Her face looked confused, she scrunched up her nose cutely and let out a small breath.

"Hello." Her voice was sweet and soft.

I smiled at her.

"Youre Maylin right?" I asked.

She said yes in her melodic voice.

I was about to ask her more, but the bell rang.

After saying goodbye, she practically sprinted out the door.

I looked after her, missing her already.

I headed towards my locker to find a not so pleasant surprise waiting for me.

Sheila was leaning against my locker, and when she saw me she ran up to me and threw her arms around me.

I stiffened and pulled back, she frowned and raised her eyebrows.

"Whats wrong, babe?" she said, her nasally voice rather annoying.

She had been trying to be my girlfriend for a while now, she didnt seem to get that Im not interested.

"Dont call me that." I said curtly, depositing my books in my locker.

She looked rather shocked as I went to my next class, not expecting that reaction.

Class went by slowly, but it was finally lunch.

I practically ran to the cafeteria, just wanting to see her.

I smiled when I saw her smiling, it was beautiful.

I was a little surprised when I saw my sister sitting beside her.

"Hey, Ry! Get over here, man!" I heard my friend Danny yell from our table.

I shook my head at him and walked over to my mates table.

As I sat down with a friendly smile, the chatter and laughing died down.

Maylin's face was shocked, probably wondering why the hell I was sitting there.
