Chapter 4
Maylins POV
I stared out the tinted windows of my brothers car as we drove home.
The day was finally over.
I had spent the rest of my day thinking about Riley, and worrying that Sheila was going to kill me.
"May? May are you listening?" I was shaken out of my thought by my brothers annoyed voice.
"What?" I said stupidly.
He sighed and rolled his eyes.
"I said, did Emmas brother try anything on you? Cause if he did I will gladly beat the shi-"
"No, no! He didnt try anything! Why the hell would you assume that?" I interrupted angrily.
He raised his eyebrows.
"Because he was staring at you like you were his girlfriend, and as soon as you said you had trig, of course he had trig too!" He argued back.
"Just drop it. Nothing happened and I have a headache." I muttered.
He glared at me for a second, but he dropped it.
I opened our front door and froze.
My mother was standing in front of me.
"Hi. How was school?" she said in a cheery voice.
I stood there, speechless.
Our mother hadnt talked to us for the last two years unless she absolutely had to. And she had definitely never asked us how our day was.
Sam had been standing behind me the whole time, not saying anything.
And then I realized just how mad I was.
"How was our day? Why dont you ask us how the last two years of our lives have been, cause you definitely werent in our lives then!" I screamed, "How dare you ask me that, like nothing happened?! Do you think Im going to forgive you? He was our dad too! But we didnt give up on you! When you sat in your room and sobbed for six damn months we tried to talk to you! But you screamed at us and told us to go away. I thought that maybe one day you would realize that you still had two kids and that maybe you should try and be there for them! But I hope you know, you arent my mother. Sam is my family. Not you."
It was dead silent. My mothers face had gone white, and Sams breath caught in his throat.
I ran up the stairs and locked the door, not wanting to talk to them.
I sobbed, tears rolled down my face.
I wanted my dad. I wanted him to hug me, tell me he loved me and that everything was alright.
I wanted Riley.
I stopped crying when I realized that. I had just met him, but he made me feel safe.
I heard voices downstairs, yelling voices.
I slowly opened the door and sat by the stairs to eavesdrop.
"Why is she saying this now?" I heard my mother shriek, and I flinched.
"You knew she would break eventually didnt you? You cant just pretend like you dont have kids! She hates you now, you know that right? Dad would be disgusted with you-"
My mother cut my brother off.
"DONT YOU DARE SAY THAT!" my mother screamed so loud, my eardrums hurt.
I didnt want to hear anymore.
I ran into my room and jumped under my covers, wishing so badly that my dad had never died.
I woke up the next morning to someone gently shaking me.
It was Sam.
"Hey, you dont have to go to school today ok? Just rest and Ill be downstairs." He whispered kindly.
I weakly shook my head and turned around, falling back asleep.
Rileys POV
She wasnt at school the second day.
I wanted to see her so bad it hurt. What if something happened? I needed to know she was safe.
At lunch I sprinted to Emmas locker.
"Emma, give me your phone. You have Mays number right?" I said quickly.
Her face scrunched up in confusion.
"Yeah.Why?" she asked.
I rolled my eyes.
"Just give it to me!" I said, snatching from her hands.
I texted May, saying that Emma had to see her urgently.
I got a text back.
Sure, come to my house. Heres my address...
I quickly typed the address into my phone and threw Emmas phone back to her.
"What the hell are you doing?" She said, her voice confused.
"I have to see her. Ill explain later." I said, and then I ran.
As soon as I got far away from the school, I whipped off my clothes.
I centered my focus...and I was in another form.
My large, silver wolf exploded from my body, as I launched forward.
I was going to see her.
