Chapter 2
Maylins POV
My breath hitched in my throat as he sat down across from me, beside Emma.
Emma smiled at him and then looked at us.
"Guys this is my brother. Riley Jones. We're twins...even though we dont look anything alike." Emma said cheerily.
I looked down at my food, because I knew if I looked up, I would get lost in his eyes again.
I heard my brother greet him, but I could somehow tell that he was still looking at me.
"And this is my new friend, May." Emma said, gesturing to me.
I slowly looked up and when I saw his face, my heartbeat sped up.
His green eyes sparkled and he smiled when I looked up.
His smile was gorgeous.
"Hello May. I believe we have met earlier, in class?" he asked, grinning.
I turned red and looked down.
"Yeah." I mumbled.
"Hey Riley, why arent you sitting with your friends?" Emma said, gesturing to a table to our left.
I looked and saw that the table had many handsome boys and pretty girls. They looked shocked that he was sitting with us.
The girl who was mad at me earlier was also at the table. She was glaring at me, looking furious.
Riley shrugged and scowled.
"I wanted to sit over here. If they have a problem with that they can say something themselves." he said happily, but he looked slightly annoyed.
Riley looked at me and his eyes filled with an emotion I couldnt place.
I got up quickly and picked up me tray.
"I have to go and, uh, finish some trig." I stammered an excuse and started to turn.
"Ill go with you. I have some trig to do too." he said happily, picking up his tray.
My brother frowned, but I nodded and smiled, silently telling him I was okay.
I let out a shaky breath as we walked by "Rileys" table, and that girl glared at me.
Riley noticed her dirty look, and his eyes filled with anger as he glared back at her.
We walked in silence to my locker, but then I didnt know what to do. I had only used the trig thing as an excuse.
He laughed at my uncomfortable expression, and for some reason his laugh made me less tense.
"I know you dont have trig. I dont either, I just wanted to walk with you." He said huskily.
His words, strangely, filled me with happiness.
I smiled a little bit.
His smile wilted slightly, as he seemed to remember something.
"Dammit," he muttered, "I have to go deal with parent stuff."
"Thats ok." I said quietly, looking at the ground.
"Well Ill see you tomorrow, May. I really look forward to sitting with you in trig." He winked.
My face turned red.
He took a step closer and quickly hugged me.
The moment he touched me, the strange voice in my head started howling a single word.
Mate.
