"Here, you should probably rest. It's for the best." Meredith advised reluctantly, chewing on her lip for a second.

I glanced at my suitcases that she packed for me while she paid my house a visit. As soon as she came back, she showed me a room that I could sleep in. It wasn't much, but it was clean and spacious for me. Cam was now here, and he had his own room, along with Luke. Meredith did as well.

"I don't see why I have to stay here. Why can't I just go home?" I questioned to her, ignoring her advising remarks. She wrinkled her eyebrows at me, and then they softened.

"You can't! You're still in danger."

"What kind of danger?" I snapped, lying on the bed in the room that she granted me.

She stared at me a little longer, her ice blue eyes drowning into my brown ones. "Look, it's complicated. Of course you can still go to school, but you can't just go home. That'll be one of the first places they'll look if they're after you."

"Luke told me the dark angels aren't even bad people. They'll probably just yell at me or something." I shrugged this off as if it weren't a big deal, but all Meredith did was just smack her forehead, and within seconds, her eyes burned with anger and impatience, making me regret saying whatever it was that made her upset.

"You don't understand. They're very dangerous to people. See, you humans think that it's all about compensating or being yelled at, or buying your forgiveness. Well, that's not how we angels cooperate." She suddenly snapped, making me jump a little. It was late at night, and my parents were probably worried sick about me. Were my parents still gone? Did they know I'm gone?

"Do you think my parents are worried about me?" I asked out of curiosity, alternating the subject.

Her eyes softened, "I called them and I got your friend, um, Lindsey, is it? Yeah, I got her to tell them that you were staying the night over her house. And, I also got her to get your car and to keep it at her house, for safe's keeping."

My eyes widened with shock. "But that's impossible, Lindsey would never want to lie to my parents. Ever." Something about that plan wasn't right, at all. I still couldn't even believe I was here.

She stared at me a little longer and rolled her eyes in defeat, "Okay, so here's another thing you have to get used to." She scratched her head awkwardly and all I did was mentally plead for an answer, tired of her building suspense on top of suspense for me.

She finally sighed, "Not only are angels...well, angels. But we are also born with a gift or two...or more."

I mentally urged for her to go on, not wanting for her to pause after every sentence; as if I even had a reply to everything that was flying out of her mouth. Hah, this whole thing is leaving me speechless.

"Um, I was born with three gifts, which is common for some angels. I have visions, I can hack into a human's brain and control their body, and I also have the power to heal." Was what came out of her mouth next, and my eyes grew broad at this.

"You used the hacking power on Lindsey, didn't you? You made her lie to my parents through the phone." I blurted out, and all Meredith did was nod.

"All angels have at least a good gift and a bad gift. I dislike my hacking powers the most because sometimes although I feel it's necessary to use it, I think it's bad, and it feels as though I'm taking advantage of people and manipulating them."

"You are," I gasped out in shock, "And it would be annoying if you could hack into my brains and body just so I could do a deed for you."

"I know, and I hate it so much. But I had no choice; and sometimes when you're left with no other choices, you just got to deal with the one that's in front of you." She looked sorry, but I didn't care. I wouldn't care.
