"Ah! Here we are." Doctor Morse had examined my arm from the minute she removed my cast. I lifted my left arm up carefully, and she shifted her gaze from it to my eyes. "Now, does it still hurt?"
"It actually feels like I have a new arm." I laughed out, trying to sound as optimistic as I could. Last night, I cried my eyes out for hours and I couldn't sleep. The thought of Matt and Claire together had really messed up my train of thought and I was a wreck yesterday. Not to mention, my parents are pissed at me and Joey's in the hospital. I decided to visit him after I got my cast removed. Claire's mom invited me so I figured why not.
"See, that was the goal." My doctor started writing things on a clipboard and she finally looked back up into my dark eyes that shimmered in the office lights. "You may go now, Cecilia. All you have to do is ask your parents to swing by some time to fill out paperwork; I know they're always out of the state and are super busy nowadays, so don't rush it. They can come whenever they're free."
I nodded at her for understanding and I hopped off the leather bed that she had me sit up on while checking my arm. When I left the building I walked to the parking lot with a sigh, gripping onto my wallet, my car keys, and my cell phone simultaneously. I happened to get my paycheck from an ATM this morning, so I guess you could say that was my last time ever going to get money out of there for a long time, since I lost my job.
Just when I approached my car to unlock it, I found Luke Marnori and his sister Meredith standing by my car. I stopped in place and widened my eyes. "What the hell?" I asked aloud, causing for them to look up at me.
Meredith approached me. "Now, I know it may seem like we're stalking you but we're not." She assured. I stared at her, not even daring to even trail my eyes to Luke. I didn't want to look in his direction, not even. Meredith turned to Luke and touched his shoulder; she glanced at me and gave me a serious look. "Luke has to be with you today; alright?"
"Why?" I blurted out before I even had time to think. "He hates me."
Luke gave me a look and rolled his eyes. Meredith frowned, "Cecilia, just bear with me today, alright? So much is going on right now and like I said before, you are still in danger. I don't know why you're pretending like you're not wanted."
"That's because I'm not!" I snapped at her. She gave me a furious look in her eyes, and looked so powerful then and there. However, I wasn't down with Luke being with me today. I tried to breathe in and out, "Look, I have things to do, people to see. Alright? My parents are in Vermont and they're pissed at me all because of you guys. I was fired because I kept leaving work unexpectedly because of you. I'm on my way to seeing my ex-boyfriend's son and I have to go see a superstitious woman about something." I didn't want to be specific, so I kept it as 'something'.
Luke raised an eyebrow, "Why do you need to see a superstitious woman?"
"Because I can." I gave him a look and he exchanged one in return.
"Well, I know you two hate each other right now but this is for your own good. Try not to kill each other." Meredith gave us both looks and walked away.
When she was finally out of eye sight, I went to my car to unlock it. Luke leaned against it, watching my every move. It was already awkward enough, and so I couldn't take it anymore. I finally snapped my head up to face him, "Listen, you don't have to be around me. You've told me to leave you alone and that's what I've been doing this whole time. So I'm sorry you had to end up with spending your day with an annoying human girl, okay?"
Luke gave me a look and snatched the keys from my hand.
I wrinkled my eyebrows, "What in the hell was that for? Give me my keys back!"
