Jessica had Starfyre land where they least amount of carnage was, or at least where she thought it was.
Jessica looked around. The sky itself seemed to turn gray. Jessica held her hand out, catching in her hand what she thought was summer snow.
Only it wasn't cold.
Jessica looked up once again, realizing it wasn't snow at all, it was soot. This was the damage done when dragons went to war.
Jessica hated it.
Everywhere she looked were bloodied and bruised men. Those were the lucky ones. Others had their skin melted off, burned beyond recognition. And then there were the ones who were reduced to little more than ash.
Jessica was pulled out of her thoughts by a familiar voice.
"Jessica!" Criston Cole called out to her.
Her head whipped in his direction, and began walking towards him. As she got closer to him, Jessica's walk turned into a run, desperate to reach Criston.
Criston's arms immediately went out, and she all but jumped into them as he held her close, his lips immediately finding hers.
Jessica pulled away a few moments later. "Criston, we have to find Aegon..."
Criston set the Princess down, nodding in agreement. He kept a hand on her back and lead her into the woods.
Several trees were still on fire, amd Criston had to lift her over one branch that was to large to go around.
Criston maneuvered himself in front of Jess when the trees completely thinned, ready to face whatever danger they may have faced.
Criston spotted Aemond first. His back was turned to them, sword out.
"Aemond!" Criston called out.
Aemond turned towards him and sheathed his sword as Criston approached.
Aemond knelt down, picking up Aegon's dagger, pointing foward.
Criston followed his gaze before settling on a burned and broken Aegon.
Criston fell to his knees, then realization hit him. "She can't see this. Gods this will break her."
As soon as Criston fell to his knees, Jessica was on the move. "Aegon!"
Two arms were immediately around her as Jessica was crushed against Aemond's black leather.
"We're going home." Aemond stated simply.
Jessica looked up at him. "But what about Aegon? We have to help -"
Aemond's lips fell onto hers. "The rest of our army, plus Cole will see him home. There is nothing more you or I can do, My Love."
"But -" Jessica went to protest.
Aemond simply scooped her up, and carried her out of the woods.
Jessica was a bit confused when Aemond set her down in front of Vhagar. She turned back to her husband. "I can fly Starfyre home."
Aemond said nothing, just crossed his arms and nodded up towards the saddle.
Jessica huffed, then turned and climbed the large war dragon.
It was a silent trip back, not like Jessica felt like talking. She simply leaned back against Aemond's chest.
Aemond, Jessica and Alicent stood high on the castle walls when the army marched through the city.
"Behold the traitor dragon, Meleys! Slain at Rook's Rest by your king! To Aegon!"
