Rhaenys looked to Daemon pacing and sighed. If she were simply on Dragonstone, she'd calm him and smooth things over with Rhaenyra's council. She was her niece after all same as Rhaenyra...well maybe with a bit more of Viserys' peaceful tendencies.

"Knowing that one-eyed prick, he won't just let her roam the castle all by herself. Even that cunt of a king isn't that foolish. But who'd that prick trust enough...Cole. Cole would be the only other person..." Daemon had been pacing back and forth across the fire for some time now.

"Cousin." Rhaenys sighed. "You know Jesscareya has a level head, she always has. I'm sure she is holding her own in King's Landing."

Daemon shot daggers at Rhaenys. "She shouldn't have been on dragon back or anywhere near Storm's End for this very FUCKING REASON!! Jessica was not well enough for travel. And I don't know by who's God given right gave her the idea that it was."

"She was well enough for you to fuck her." Rhaenys muttered under her breath.

Daemon stopped in his tracks. "What did you say?"

Rhaenys shook her head, she opened her mouth to rebuttal but the doors flew opened.

"Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, The First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lady of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Relam."

Daemon went over and met Rhaenyra. He leaned down and pressed his forehead to hers, whispering softly. "Did you find what you needed?"

Rhaenyra pulled away from him and crossed to the head of the table. "I want Aemond Targaryen, and I want Jesscareya home."

Rhaenys took a step back. Rhaenyra had just given Daemon the clearance he needed to go burn down the city for the object he desired most.

Jessica sighed, she knew Aemond hated her to be out in the city alone, but he could not keep her from the Sept.

They all could use prayer these days.

Jessica had just descended the carriage and began the climb to the stairs when she and Alicent reached the top at the same time.

Jessica stopped and gave a curtsy. "Your Grace."

Alicent and Jessica held each other's gaze for a moment before Alicent extended her arm. "Walk with me, Sweet Girl."

Jessica nodded, taking her arm and did as told.

The glow of the candles always brought some comfort and warmth to her. Jessica closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

She and Alicent found a spot and knelt down in front of the circle of candles. Jessica picked up a match and lit it. One by one, she lit a candle and recited a name.

Aemma Arryn

Viserys Targaryen

Laena Velaryon

Laenor Velaryon

Lucerys Velaryon

For awhile, neither Alicent or Jessica spoke, and the whole of King's Landing seemed to still.

"You know Jessica that -" Alicent began.

Jessica cut her off quickly. "You and I both know the outcome, Your Grace."

Alicent took a deep breath. "It was my father's idea to make you his mistress, not mine, Sweet Girl."

Jessica kept her eyes on the flame. "I will eventually come to be with child."
