THIRTY SIX

Oh, how blissfully ignorant had Odelya been to imagine that just as soon as she was bound homeward that all of her terrible nightmares would pass. However, the terrors which plagued her nighttime caused hers and Reign's new house to be filled with screams from distant memories of the Career's dented skulls and Iana's head separating from her mangled body, yet she didn't feel as much guilt for the latter as she did the former.
Frozen corpses hidden inside of reindeer carcasses haunted her awfully and beautiful little girls with axes in their hearts would forever scar her during the little sleep she would get from now on. Even those she had murdered out of mercy rather than malicious intent still filled her mind with remorseful cried, for they had loving families also. Such most likely detested her very being, wishing for her demise for the entirety of the Hunger Games. How furious would they have been when she had been victorious. Dead children and their grieving families would forever remain in the deepest depths of her soul, just torturing her from the inside out.
Despite causing darling Odelya to fall into a hopeless state of restlessness and despair, these screams of agony were of strange comfort to Reign, for they reminded him that his sister was still very much alive, not dangling from a hand woven noose nor sinking to the oceans floor after plunging from the executioners standing place.
Such a grandiose house had been gifted to them upon Odelya's return to District Four, as though some meaningless apology for her trauma and the stealing of her sanity. Four's victors village having its many crevices used for the hiding of all of the dead children the arenas dating back to the very first Hunger Games. Sunshine rose from the western sky, so as Odelya now could see from her window, Finnick would shine forever even if her were covered by a full moon in her heart.
And so, as Odelya sat quietly on her windowsill, watching the sunrise of their golden horizon, she reminisced over brighter days and how when she were but a little girl and troubles worried her, Papa would offer to take her fishing. Sitting on overturned buckets on the empty docks, for it would have been too early for the fishermen to have awoken in their wooden homes. Papa would then tell her the prettiest stories and the most precious moments from his past when he had been falling in love with Odelya's Mama.
For many hours would they sit there, catching many a fish and gutting them before storing them in crates Papa had stolen from the workers, such times were when Odelya would sympathise with the deceased animals for the had loved ones as she did. Papa always reminded her that their family would forever be more important than the fish's and their need for continued sustenance would always be their most important priority. Odelya didn't feel bad for the sea creatures for much time longer.
When they returned home, Mama would prepare the most delicious of meals with the fish they had caught and the family would feast as a beautiful smell radiated the home. Melody would giggle at the dinner table about pretty gestures which Apollo had done for her that day and Orion would scowl and complain of how he detested the boy for he took up too much of his beloved sister's time. Little Reign would then throw his food at his older sisters and such would start a food fight filled with a flighty happiness which would end with the Castellan's holding their bellies which hurt due to their laughter.
Darling Papa would gather his beloved girls in his arms whilst Mama cradled Reign in one arms and held Orion's hand with the other and so they would race to one of the few unpolluted beaches and tackle each other in the waves. Odelya remembered one time when Melody had been under the water for just a moment too long and that was but the only time where she had seen true fear in her father's eyes. But as Melody popped up with a giggle and Papa swirled her around in the air, the fear escaped just a quickly as it had came and all was well once again.
Every night would end with the family in the ocean, happily soaking their clothes in the blue waves and occasionally when Apollo and Finnick would join them in their joy, Papa and Orion would do their very best to drown the boys just long enough to not do any harm to them.
Odelya and Melody would storm off with their boys with not true anger in their hearts before retiring to play in mere moments. Such a happy childhood was stolen from the children in one night when Mama and Papa were thrown into the depths of the ocean from the executioners place and that was when Odelya was forced to prematurely grow up.
Odelya's reminiscence of beautiful days with her family together and happy met with a dire end was interrupted by a now not so little Reign, stood in her doorway with a fishing rod in each hand.
"You want to go fishing, Odelya?"
Odelya's heart warmed for perhaps the last time in forever and she thought the one day, if she had her darling Reign by her side that all would be well once again.
So incorrect was she.
