Giyu noticed behind Akaza that Tanjiro was standing up. *He didn't notice?!... Tanjiro's right behind him! Does he have no presence?! Wait... GET HIM, TANJIROU!! IF YOU CAN STILL MOVE, GO FOR THE NECK!! WHILE HE STILL HASN'T NOTICED YOU!! THE HEAD!* Before he could finish his thoughts, they were interrupted by Tanjiro's yell.

"AKAZAAAAA!!!" Tanjiro charged and swung at Akaza.

*WHY WOULD YOU CALL HIS NAME OUT LIKE THAT, YOU MORON!* Giyu thought, frustration mingling with his worry.

Akaza started wondering, *HE'S ALIVE!! HOW CAN HE STILL BE ALIVE AFTER TAKING THAT... NO, NO PROBLEM. NO MATTER WHAT HE ATTACKS WITH, MY DESTRUCTIVE KILL COMPASS WILL DETECT IT. THE STRONGER HIS BATTLE SPIRIT IS, THE STRONGER MY COMPASS DETECTION WILL GET... WHAT, WHAT IS THIS WEIRD PRESENCE... IT'S LIKE HE'S BECOME A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BEING. THIS GUY IS WEIRD...* 

*HIS BATTLE SPIRIT IS GONE. HE HAS NO BATTLE SPIRIT!! CALM DOWN!! IT'S COMING!!* Akaza's thoughts raced as Tanjiro swung at him, resulting in cutting Akaza's head off. Both Giyu and Akaza were surprised.

*In all my centuries, I have never seen a human with no battle spirit. Even babies emit a faint battle spirit... AND YET THIS GUY MANAGED TO MAKE HIS ENTIRE SPIRIT DISAPPEAR IN A SECOND.* Akaza started freaking out but grabbed his head, trying to put it back on. *I CAN STILL FIGHT!* he thought to himself.

Both Giyu and Tanjiro noticed Akaza trying to reattach his head. Giyu threw his sword to try and stop him, the blade stabbing Akaza in the head and pulling it out of his hands. As it fell to the ground, Akaza's head started disintegrating.

Tanjiro started thinking, *HIS HEAD DISINTEGRATED... IT'S OVER. WE WON!!!* But his whole body ached from the fight. As Tanjiro was lost in his thoughts, Giyu stared at Akaza's body. *The body isn't even starting to crumble,* he thought to himself. *It, it can't be!*

Suddenly, Akaza's body started attacking. He kicked Tanjiro into a wall and then attacked Giyu. After thinking he had brought down Giyu, Akaza turned to Tanjiro until Giyu got up and yelled, "IF YOU WANT TO KILL TANJIROU, YOU'LL HAVE TO GET THROUGH ME FIRST...!!"

Akaza's body stopped moving towards Tanjiro and paused for a second. *WHAT AN... EYE-SORE,* Akaza thought, starting to move towards Giyu. But something pulled him back. Memories unconsciously flowed... a woman started speaking, "HAKUJI-SAN, STOP ALREADY." But that woman wasn't actually there; she was like a presence only Akaza could see.

"LET GO, LET GO, WHO ARE YOU?" Akaza demanded.

She started speaking, crying, "JUST STOP ALREADY, LET'S GO TO THE OTHER SIDE..."

"I CAN'T... I HAVE TO KILL THESE PEOPLE," Akaza said.

"But why?" she asked.

"I have to BECOME stronger. I will kill anyone who gets in my way," Akaza replied.
