Episode 11: The Core of Light

Eon was placed in his bed, just barely breathing. Hugo, King Pen and Spyro all stood at his bedside as he laid unconscious. Spyro looked worried before turning to King Pen.

Spyro:
Okay, how did this happen again?

King Pen:
Master Eon used his powers to move the Core of Light so that Kaos may never find it. However, this has sapped away most of his powers. I fear he will pass by the time the sun sets.

Spyro:
What? No-no! We can not just let him die! There has to be something we can do!

King Pen:
There is one thing that can replenish his power, but it will not be easy to achieve.

Spyro:
What?

King Pen hesitated for a moment before breathing a sigh of defeat.

King Pen:
The light essence form the Core of Light.

Spyro:
Okay, then just go get some.

King Pen:
It's not that simple! The sensei all must remain at the academy, and all the Skylanders are scattered across the realm. There are limited options for who may collect the essence of the Core of Light.

Spyro:
Then I'll go! I passed the gauntlet, so I'm now a Skylander. I can put together a team and we can get the essence in time to save Eon.

King Pen:
Spyro, you may have passed the gauntlet but you are not yet ready for this. You have not yet....

Spyro:
King Pen, by the time the Skylanders can make it back, Eon will be long gone. This might be our only chance of saving him.

Somewhere across the Skylands, a fleet of ships passed above the clouds. Kaos waits on the main ship as he follows the map to the Core of Light. Glumshanks stands beside him, unamused.

Kaos:
This is great, Glumshanks. Soon, I will destroy the Core of Light, the darkness shall come and I will rule over all of Skylands.

The boats then pull to a stop at where the map was crossed. However, Kaos looked and sees only empty ocean in the spot where the Core of Light should have been.

Kaos:
What? What is this? Where is the Core of Light? Was I holding the map upside down.

Kaos looks at the map to find that they were indeed in the right place. Glumshanks tried to get Kaos' attention before his hand was smacked aside.

Kaos:
This map must be a decoy. And I know exactly where the real map must be, Skylanders Academy. Minions, turn around. We sail for Skylanders Academy at once!

The ships then turn around and sail in the direction of the Academy.

Spyro met King Pen with Gill Grunt, Trigger Happy, Stealth Elf, Hex, Eruptor, Fright Rider, Flameslinger, Sprocket, Drobot, Whirnado, Chop Chop and Cynder. King Pen walked to them with his flippers behind his back.

King Pen:
Remember, once you reach the citadel you will have to pass three challenges to make it the Core of Light. As you reach the core, collect the light essence in this bottle.

Spyro:
Great, so how do we get to the citadel?

King Pen:
Well, for that it is time for you to access the Portal of Piwer for the first time.

King Pen then reveals a massive, stone configuration with many runes placed around it. The cadets take the bottle and pass through the portal. Passing through the portal made many sick to their stomachs, given it was their first time using the portal. Landing at the citadel, they all had to collect themselves.
