"THIS BETTER be good

"THIS BETTER be good." Delilah said, grimacing as she stepped over a long trail of ants. Large ants. Not normal ants. Tai looked behind her. The two girls were right at the front, Lottie lingering behind them with her hands gripping her backpack straps and staying silent.

"It will be, don't worry." Tai said. Delilah hummed. "So a dirty lake is like a blessing I'm guessing." She said, shrugging.

Tai sighed. "Look, we've got about a whole soccer team of teenaged girls, plus a middle aged coach with one leg, back there, stinky and practically begging for a shower. So yeah, I'd say a lake is a blessing."

Delilah looked behind her at the long line as they all walked through the forest. She saw Shauna on her own, Jackie not too far behind, looking at Shauna with a bitter expression.

She sighed. "You know what, ignore me. I think I'm also begging for a shower as much as the rest of them." Tai grinned, looking at her out of the corner of her eye. Delilah smiled tight lipped.

"Lottie, you all good?"

Lottie looked up, blinking. "It's dirty out here. Dense as-well." Delilah pursed her lips, looking at Tai, before kissing her teeth. "I guess it is. Great spot, Lot."

A loud groan came from behind them. A disgusting smell reached all their noses.

Delilah scrunched up her face, slapping her hand over the lower half of her face, pinching her nostrils shut as to not have to smell whatever it was anymore.

Lottie and Nat both stopped, their eyes and contorted faces telling Delilah they had smelled it too.

"What's that smell?" Lottie spoke, her hand drifting underneath her nose to try and block it out.

As they turned the corner and looked around a large tree, they all saw a mauled bear, its rotting flesh exposed and insides red with blood, spilling out before them.

"Ugh! Ew!" Delilah spat, her gag reflex threatening to empty her stomach of everything she once had eaten over the course of the slim three days since the crash.

"Oh god i'm gonna puke." Jackie spoke as she walks past, speaking Delilah's mind and only sending it once glance before she strode onwards, closing her eyes and shaking her head of the image. Travis and Javi followed afterwards, also looking at the bear with wide eyes. "Sick."

"What could've done that?" Shauna asked no body in specific. Coach Scott perked up dazedly and replied. "A wolf probably."

"They can kill a fucking bear?" Natalie drawled, her eyes widening and her lips quirking downwards in utter disbelief. Coach nodded his head, wincing a bit as he shuffled and closing his eyes. "Yeah, wolves can kill anything if the packs big enough."
