Cersei's death was made a spectacle.
The galleries were filled to the brim with the families of those Cersei had murdered in the Sept of Baelor alone. Relatives of every last septa, septon, guards, knights, and handmaidens who had been in attendance on that awful day. A platform was set before the throne, which had chairs on either side for Ysira and Daenerys. Around the platform were their closest allies, who hated Cersei for reasons that could no longer be counted on a pair of hands.
Ysira had planned every last second of the trial. Who would be present, who would sit where, who would ultimately be the one to kill Cersei while the others bore witness. Only Viserys, Daenerys, Robb, Jon, Olenna, Quentyn, and Oberyn knew the entirety of the plan, being the ones who had the greatest interest in her death and simultaneously a reason to keep their mouths quiet about the main event that'd been planned. Ysira knew every single person there hated Cersei, but knew she still had to be careful of how word spread, otherwise, their plan wouldn't be quite so fun.
They'd held Cersei gagged and in chains, surrounded by the Kingsguard, while they first held trial for her helping Hand, Qyburn. Viserys read aloud his list of crimes, starting with how he'd conducted illegal human experiments in the Citadel and been thrown out, stripped of his maester's chain. He aided Cersei in hunting down dwarves when trying to find Tyrion after he murdered Lord Tywin, after which he was named Master of Whisperers to replace Varys.
Qyburn was known to have been the person who helped Cersei in the wildfire plot that blew up the Sept of Baelor, after which he was named Hand and was able to crown her. Palace guards had testified to these many conversations and the fact Qyburn had been the one that designed the modified scorpions which had fired bolts at Viserys, Ysira, Daenerys, and their dragons. He'd aided Cersei afterwards in the torture of a septa who hadn't died when the Sept was blown, he'd had Varys's little birds kill Grand Maester Pycelle.
Viserys himself cut off his head right in front of Cersei, her eyes dark and gaze fixed on the King, as if she would like him served on a platter for her. As their guards ridded them of Qyburn's body, Cersei was brought up to the platform, her gag removed.
"Cersei of the House Lannister," said Viserys, hands still splattered with blood as he sat back on the Iron Throne, "you stand here in the sight of gods and men, on trial for the crimes I'll list now. Fornication, treason, incest, regicide, mass murder, arson, torture, mutilation, and usurpation. How do you plead?"
Cersei stared up defiantly, refusing to answer. "You'll leave it up to us, then," said Viserys, gesturing around her. "Very well. Lord Eddard Stark learned that you'd birthed King Robert three bastard children, sired by your twin brother, Ser Jaime Lannister, and it was Stannis Baratheon who broadcasted this message to the Realm. This, no one denies to be true. The Kingslayer confessed to the King in the North, Robb Stark, and his mother, Lady Catelyn, that he threw young Bran Stark from the tower at Winterfell because he'd seen the two of you. Their testimony is enough."
He continued, raising his voice, "You are accused of orchestrating the death of King Robert of the House Baratheon, making you guilty of regicide by proxy. This was brought up in your trial with the High Sparrow, and none doubt its truth. You are accused of mass murder by facilitating King Joffrey in murdering Robert's bastards and by organizing the destruction of the Sept of Baelor with wildfire. You murdered the High Septon and countless septas, septons, and the family members of nobles present here today–"
He pointed at the gallery, at the angry faces that glared at her. "You murdered nearly the whole of the Tyrell family, including Queen Margaery, and you kinslayed when you allowed your uncle Kevan and cousin Lancel– who you alsocommitted incest with– to die in this explosion. You enabled Qyburn's inhumane experiments, you murdered countless dwarves in the search for Tyrion Lannister, you tortured Septa Unella and had Ser Gregor Clegane rape her repeatedly. Your actions caused your son, the young King Tommen, to kill himself, by which you are once more guilty of regicide and kinslaying. Lastly, you usurped this throne. How do you plead?"
