"so I have an answer." Jeremy tells Anna. "To what?." Anna asks. "Why you should turn me." Jeremy answers. Anna sighs almost sounded like a scoff. "We're back to that?."
"Look, I wake up everyday and I feel okay...but there's something missing, like a-- Like a hole." Jeremy explains. "Some people call when they fit, and lie for whatever. I don't."
Anna tilts her head looking at Jeremy. "So you want a pity turn? I don't think so." Jeremy took a deep breath before answering. "You should turn me because I don't have anything else."
Anna's small smile disappears when Jeremy said that, the honesty was raw but sad that Jeremy feels like that. "Do you even though why we turn other people?. It's not to give someone a one-way ticket out of loner-hood, okay? One, we need someone to do our dirty work. Two, revenge. Three, boredom, but, you know that never turns out well and then, you know, there's the obvious one."
Jeremy's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "That you love someone so much... That you would do anything to spend all of eternity with them." Anna explains, cleaning her throat. "I'm sorry, but you don't fit any of those categories yet."
Anna sees Pearl enter The Grill over Jeremy's shoulder. Pearl was dressed all nice, she had on a cream colored button up with a pencil skirt and a black jacket and umbrella in hand.
"So, yeah, just make sure your thesis is clear, and she'll love it." Anna says quickly standing up from her chair. "See you later." Anna says to Jeremy grabbing her jacket heading towards her mom.
Anna slide her phone open sending Jeremy a text. Jeremy looks at his phone when it goes off, sliding his phone one reading Anna's text.
Anna: Mom
Anna slides her phone into her pocket when she got to her mom. "Mom, hey." Pearl looks her daughter up and down. "Did you get everything?." She asks her daughter.
"Yeah, the, uh, blood bank was understaffed because of the rain." Anna answers. "I was in and out."
"Who was that you were talking to?". Pearl asks, almost sounding defensive. "A friend from the library." Anna forced a smile in her lie.
Pearl nods her head. "Let's head home." They both turn to leave when Richard Lockwood stops Pearl and Anna. "You're not going out in that are you? The roads are dangerous, route 5 is completely flooded."
Pearl gives Richard a look. "We'll make due." She turns to leave with her daughter again when a waitress says something to catch Pearl's attention.
"Mayor Lockwood, we have your table."
Pearl stops turning around. "Mayor Lockwood, is it?." Richard turns back around to face Pearl. "I suppose it is treacherous outside. My name is Pearl." She offers her hand to Richard.
He shakes her hand greeting her. "This is my daughter, Anna. We've just recently moved to town." Richard shakes Anna's hand. "Welcome, Richard Lockwood. This is my son, Tyler."
Tyler had a face of not giving a shot when he nods his head at Pearl and Anna.
"Please, please join us." Richard offers. "It would be a pleasure." Pearl follows the waitress to the table.
"Be more creepy, Dad." Tyler says to his father. "Not like your son is standing right here." Richard rolls his eyes at his son. "Grow up, elections are coming. She's a constituent, and a rich one from the looks of it."
"And you can tell that by looking at her ass?." Tyler chuckles. "Awesome." He rolls his eyes. "I'm going to go shoot some pool."
