As the night passed, the morning light filtered through the room, and Mei was jolted awake by the buzzing of her phone. Reaching for it lazily, she saw her parents were calling. She answered, only to be greeted by a concerned tone on the other end.

After assuring them she was fine, she glanced around, remembering the events of the previous night. She looked at her side seeing the pin. Her heart fluttered again as the memories of her time with Sylus replayed in her mind.

"Mom, I'll call you back soon... I need to get ready. I have to go to the mall today," Mei said, trying to sound composed, though her mind was still half-drifting in thoughts of Sylus. After exchanging goodbyes with her parents, she stretched her arms high above her head, letting out a soft yawn and stretching out her back. Feeling more awake, she hopped out of bed and headed for the bathroom to take a quick shower.

Afterward, she dressed in some casual yet cute clothes that Kieran and Luke had picked out for her. She couldn't help but be impressed by their surprisingly good taste. *For guys who barely know me, they sure did well* she thought with a smile as she admired her reflection in the mirror then she could see the glimmers of the pin that was shining through the sunlight. She took it and kept it in her pocket.

Heading downstairs, Mei found the house unusually quiet. Wondering where everyone had gone, she eventually encountered an old maid sweeping the floor.

"Excuse me?" Mei said, her voice polite but curious. The old maid looked at her for a moment, seemingly confused, as if trying to process whether Mei was real or not. Mei shifted slightly under her gaze before breaking the silence again. "Do you happen to know where Professor Sylus is?"

The maid snapped out of her daze, blinking in surprise. "Oh dear, I'm truly sorry! It's very rare for Sylus to bring a young lady here...He went out."

"Oh, I see...I'm Mei, uh...Sylus's student," Mei replied with a smile, deciding that introducing herself as a student might seem odd.

The maid smiled warmly back at her. "So polite, deary. I'm Rita, I come here on the weekdays to clean."

Mei nodded, appreciating the woman's kind demeanor. "It's nice to meet you! Do you know when Professor Sylus might be back?"

Rita shook her head gently. "I'm afraid I don't, miss. But I'm sure he won't be too long. He always returns when he's needed."

As Mei and Rita chatted a little longer, Mei's phone suddenly rang, cutting through the atmosphere. The screen showed an unknown number. Mei excused herself politely from Rita, her heart racing slightly as she walked toward a nearby window, unsure whether to answer given the current situation with Sylus. After a few hesitant moments, she finally picked up.

"Hello?" Mei said cautiously.

A deep, familiar voice responded, smooth and alluring. "Took a while for you to pick up the phone."

Mei's eyes widened in recognition. "Professor Sylus? How did you get my number?"

"I have my resources," he replied nonchalantly, "Save my number—you'll need it if anything happens."

*Well, I was going to anyway,* Mei thought, rolling her eyes but feeling a little flustered at how easily he had her details. "Where are you?"

"I'm at the bakery near Azure Court" Sylus said. "There's a car waiting for you outside. It'll bring you to me."

Before Mei could ask anything else, the call ended abruptly. She stared at her phone for a second before shaking her head and rushing toward the door, eager to see what Sylus had planned next.

Mei spotted the sleek black luxury car parked just outside the entrance. A chauffeur, dressed impeccably, stepped out and made his way around to open the door for her. "Good morning, Miss Lin," he greeted her with a formal nod, his professionalism leaving Mei feeling a bit out of place in this polished world Sylus had drawn her into.
