Mei moved from one piece of jewelry to another, her confidence growing with each successful bid. She began to embrace the role, acting all high and mighty, as if she belonged in this world of wealth and luxury. The dazzling gems reflected the glimmer of determination in her eyes, and by the time she was done, she had caught the attention of nearly everyone in the room.

The auctioneer approached her with a respectful nod, announcing, "Congratulations, madam. You have secured the highest bid on all the pieces you admired."

Mei smiled, feeling a mixture of pride and excitement. But before she could respond, the auctioneer followed up with a question that sent her heart racing "How would you like to process the payment?"

For a brief moment, Mei was caught off guard. She hadn't thought this far ahead and was unsure how to handle the situation. But before she could panic, she heard Sylus's calm, deeply attractive voice from afar.

"Put it under my name, Sylus."

The auctioneer immediately looked at him, who had entered the room just in time. With a respectful bow, the auctioneer responded, "Will do, sir."

Relief washed over Mei as she discreetly glanced at Sylus, grateful for his timely intervention. His presence alone seemed to exude control and authority, and she knew she could rely on him no matter what.

But Sylus raised an eyebrow at Mei, crossing his arms with a hint of disapproval. "Looks like a kitten got ahead of herself with her new toys," he remarked, his tone almost like a father catching his child playing with his credit card.

Mei, feeling a bit defensive, crossed her arms too. "Well, someone told me not to embarrass him," she snapped back, standing her ground.

Sylus smiled, amused. "Sweetie, second rule? Talk less..." Sylus began, his voice smooth but laced with amusement as he raised an eyebrow. "That means you didn't have to be so loud and confident that I heard every foul mouth of yours through the earpiece." His teasing was light, but it hit its mark. Mei, clearly frustrated, pouted, realizing once again that winning an argument with Sylus was near impossible.

Before she could respond further, loud music filled the ballroom, drawing Sylus's attention. He glanced in the direction of the sound, then back at Mei's face, his expression softening. Without a word, he extended his hand toward her, a subtle invitation in his eyes.

"Care to dance with me?" Sylus asked smoothly.

Mei's expression brightened but turned hesitant. "I-I don't know how..." she admitted, her voice almost shy.

Sylus's lips curled into a small smile. "It's required for a guest like me to dance. Just...follow my lead, sweetie."

Mei blushed, feeling the warmth in his words. She hesitated for only a moment before placing her hand in his, allowing herself to be guided. Sylus led her gracefully into the center of the ballroom, where a few other couples were already dancing. The soft glow of chandeliers illuminated the room as people surrounded them, watching curiously.

With effortless grace, Sylus placed one hand on her waist, the other gently tracing down to hold hers. "Put your other hand on my back," he instructed softly, his voice soothing.

Mei, feeling flustered but eager to please, shyly placed her hand on his back. As the music started again, Sylus began guiding her into a smooth rhythm, leading her through each step with an elegant ease. Mei's initial stiffness melted away as Sylus swayed her gently, his movements so fluid that she barely had to think about where to place her feet.

The world around them seemed to blur, and for that moment, it felt like it was just the two of them. Each step, each turn, was guided by Sylus's confidence, and Mei found herself completely wrapped up in the moment, her heart racing for reasons that had nothing to do with the grand setting or the expensive jewelry.
