Lisa stepped out of Jennie’s office, exhaling deeply as she mumbled, “Thank God I didn’t embarrass myself in there.”

Her gaze fell on someone waiting nearby, and she realized it was Jennie’s secretary.

“Hi,” Lisa greeted, trying to keep her voice steady.

“Hi,” Seulgi replied with a warm smile, extending her hand for a handshake. “By the way, I’m Kang Seulgi, but just call me Seulgi.”

Lisa shook her hand, feeling a bit of her nervousness fade. “I’m Lisa Manoban. Call me Lisa.”

Seulgi’s eyes sparkled with curiosity. “You’re here quite early on your first day. What were you doing in the CEO’s office?”

Lisa felt her pulse quicken. “I didn’t want to be late, and Jennie—I mean, the boss—asked me to come to her office.”

Seulgi’s smile widened, a hint of amusement in her eyes. “Well, welcome to the company. Hope your first day is as exciting as your early start.”

As Seulgi prepared to head toward Jennie’s office, Lisa turned to her with a bright smile. “Thanks, P’Seulgi.”

Seulgi’s brow furrowed in confusion. “P’Seulgi? Why are you calling me that?”

Lisa chuckled softly. “In Thai, ‘P’ is a term of respect for someone older. Since you’re older than me, I wanted to show respect.”

Seulgi’s initial confusion melted into a smile. “Ah, I understand. But if you want to show respect, ‘Unnie’ would be more appropriate.”

Lisa’s eyes lit up with understanding. “Got it, Unnie. Boss mentioned you’d be showing me what to do. Can you fill me in on my tasks?”

Seulgi’s smile widened at Lisa’s earnestness. “Sure, but first, I need to have a quick chat with the boss. Wait here, and I’ll be back soon to give you a tour and explain everything.”

Lisa nodded eagerly. “Okay, Unnie. I’ll be right here.”

As Seulgi walked away toward Jennie’s office, Lisa settled into a nearby chair. She looked around, taking in the sleek, modern design of the office.

Seulgi slipped into Jennie’s office without knocking, her eyes immediately noting Jennie’s distracted state. A sly grin spread across Seulgi’s face as she approached her best friend.

"Are you thinking about Lisa?" Seulgi asked playfully, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Jennie, caught off guard, mumbled, "Yeah," but as soon as she realized what she had said, she scrambled to correct herself. "What?! No, why would I be thinking about her?" She turned back to her paperwork, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment as she tried to mask her true feelings.

Seulgi couldn’t contain a chuckle. Jennie’s reaction was both endearing and amusing. “Come on, Jen. I know you well. Admit it—are you falling for her?”

Jennie’s eyes shot up, a hint of panic in her gaze. “What are you talking about? Love isn’t something that happens overnight. And don’t forget, I’m married.”

Seulgi clicked her tongue, a playful smirk on her lips. “Oh, right, your so-called ‘marriage’. That's a forced marriage, Jen. You’ve never even had a moment of intimacy with her, nor have you ever felt love or desire for your wife. But seriously, don’t let that stop you from pursuing what you really want.”
