The house was humming with a sense of normalcy that had returned after Leuca's departure three days ago. Tonight, the dining room was alive with the soft chatter of Abigail, Amalia, Bailey, and the kids—Damian, Leia, and Zera. Anthony had prepared a delightful meal, filling the air with the comforting aroma of roasted chicken and fresh vegetables. Laughter and conversation danced around the table, mingling with the scent of home.

Leia had surprised me with how well she was handling Leuca's absence. The first night had been a struggle, with her cries echoing through the quiet house, but I had managed to comfort her with extra hugs and treats. Since then, she had shown remarkable maturity, and I had rewarded her with a bit of extra pampering for her good behavior.

As we finished up dinner, Zera's eyes sparkled with excitement. She tugged at my sleeve, barely containing her enthusiasm. "Can we watch a movie together in a tent, Mom?"

I couldn't help but laugh, my eyes crinkling with warmth. "Of course, sweetheart. A movie night in a blanket fort sounds like the perfect way to end the day."

The kids cheered, their excitement palpable as they scrambled to gather blankets and pillows. Their makeshift tents, constructed with a mix of blankets draped over furniture, had become a cherished tradition. Seeing their eager faces and the promise of a cozy movie night brought a smile to my face.

Meanwhile, Abigail and Bailey were deep in conversation with me about the wedding plans between Leuca and me. The topic had been a frequent one, and I was torn between excitement and uncertainty. Abigail and Bailey, always supportive, discussed whether the celebration should be a grand affair or a more intimate gathering.

"Honestly, I think it would be a shame not to celebrate it properly," Amalia interjected, her tone firm yet warm. "You and Leuca deserve a beautiful wedding, and it's something you'll cherish forever."

I hesitated, my brow furrowing slightly. "I just don't know. I've never been one for big celebrations."

Bailey, ever practical, chimed in with a reassuring smile. "Leave it to me. I'll make an appointment for a wedding dress fitting. Anne has been asking about it too, you know."

I laughed softly. "Of course, my mother is always on top of things like that."

Just as we were about to continue the conversation, an unsettling silence fell over the room. The atmosphere grew thick with tension, and everyone seemed to sense that something was wrong. Damian's playful demeanor shifted to one of serious concern.

He listened, a moment we all turned quiet.

He turned to me, his voice low and urgent. "Mom, gather the twins. We need to hide, now."

My heart skipped a beat. "What's going on?"

Abigail and Bailey exchanged anxious glances before Abigail hissed sharply, "Run! Take Zera and Leia with you, now!"

Without waiting for further explanation, I scooped Zera into my arms while Damian picked up Leia. We hurried towards the kitchen, planning to use the back exit for a quick escape. But before we could make it, the double doors to the dining hall were thrown open with a thunderous bang. A towering figure stood in the doorway, his imposing presence immediately setting off alarm bells.

The man who entered was unfamiliar to me, but his commanding demeanor and stern expression made it clear he was a serious threat. Bailey stepped forward, placing herself in front of us, her posture a mix of defiance and fear. "Father, what a surprise," she said, her voice trembling despite her brave attempt at composure. "But I'm afraid you're not welcome here."

My eyes widened as I took in the man's appearance. Leuca's father? He bore a striking resemblance to Leuca, but with a more rugged, intimidating presence. His long, dark hair flowed down his back, and his face was marked by streaks of grey in his beard. His dark eyes, framed by thick lashes and brows, surveyed the room with a chilling intensity. His broad frame made him look even more formidable.
