.Jin glanced out the airplane window, his heart swelling with quiet happiness. After what felt like an eternity, he was finally going to meet his younger brother again. The thought alone made his chest feel light, and a faint smile tugged at his lips.
Beside him, Jimin sat still, his face unreadable, staring ahead as if lost in his thoughts. The weight of the silence between them was almost suffocating.
"You know, Chim..." Jin’s voice was soft, breaking the stillness. "I had a talk with Hobi." He paused, his eyes darting to Jimin for a reaction, but the younger man remained impassive. "He said Kook has locked himself in his room for the past year."
Jimin didn’t even blink.
"I just... I just hope he’s okay," Jin continued, his voice heavy with concern, his earlier happiness dimming. "And that he’s doing good." He stared at Jimin, waiting for some sign, any sign, but none came.
The silence grew louder, as if Jimin’s lack of response spoke more than words ever could.
Jin sighed softly, his fingers tapping nervously against the armrest. "He’s alone... and lonely. I just hope his health is good, and he’s doing alright." His voice faltered, the worry seeping through as his thoughts lingered on Jungkook.
For a moment, it seemed like Jimin wouldn’t respond, his gaze still distant. But finally, words slipped from his mouth, quiet yet firm. "He has to be healthy and good, hyung."
Jin turned his head, startled by the sudden reply. Jimin’s voice was cold, almost mechanical. "He has to," Jimin repeated, a slight edge in his tone, as if he were convincing himself more than Jin.
Jin’s eyes searched Jimin’s face, looking for any trace of concern for their younger brother. But all he found was something else—determination.
It was a different kind of resolve, one that wasn’t rooted in concern, but in something far more driven, as if Jimin was solely focused on the purpose of their trip.
Jin’s heart sank a little as he realized it wasn’t worry that was pushing Jimin forward—it was the reason they were here, and the reason why things would never be the same again.
A man stood in the kitchen, methodically stirring a pot on the stove, the aroma of freshly cooked food filling the room. His movements were calm, almost rhythmic, until the sudden chime of the doorbell echoed through the space. His hand paused mid-air, the spoon hanging above the pot as his body stiffened. He didn’t need to check; he already knew who it was.
Letting out a slow breath, he quickly covered the food, ensuring it would stay warm. He washed his hands, the cool water running over his fingers as if grounding him for what was about to come.
Wiping his hands dry, he moved toward the door, his footsteps steady, yet with an unspoken tension lingering in the air.
As Kai opened the door, Jin and Jimin stood there. Jin greeted him with a smile, while Jimin bowed slightly, his expression neutral. Kai mirrored the bow, though his eyes lingered on Jin more than Jimin.
"Come in, hyung," Kai said, stepping aside to let them enter. Jin nodded and walked in, followed by Jimin, who moved silently behind him.
"Please, have a seat," Kai gestured towards the sofa. Jin and Jimin sat down, glancing around the house, the atmosphere thick with an awkward tension. Meanwhile, Kai disappeared into the kitchen, returning shortly with drinks.
