."what's going on? Why are you packing so hurriedly?" Tae asked, watching his friend Jimin throw things into his suitcase in a rush.
"I just... I need to leave, Tae. My granny... she's sick, and I need to be with her. She needs me... and I need her," Jimin's voice cracked, stumbling over his words as if he was on the verge of breaking down.
"Is it that serious?" Tae asked, concern deepening in his voice.
"Yes, Tae. Hyung called me. He told me to come as soon as possible, and..." Jimin's voice trailed off as tears welled in his eyes. "He was crying too."
"Jin-hyung was crying?" Tae's eyes widened. "He doesn't cry easily... if he is, it must be really serious."
"I know," Jimin whispered, wiping his tears. "But don't call yoon , Tae. He's already so busy with his project. Just... just let him know I'm going."
"Chim, I'm coming with you," Tae said firmly.
"No, Tae, you don't have to. Please..." Jimin began, but Tae interrupted him.
"I'm coming, Chim. No arguments," Tae declared, leaving no room for negotiation.
Jimin blinked, his own tears spilling over. "Okay," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
As they arrived in Seoul, memories flooded Tae's mind. This was the city where he was born, where he had spent the first 16 years of his life. It felt strange, familiar yet distant, like a part of him had stayed behind while the rest moved on.
"Tae?" Jimin called softly.
"Yeah... sorry, I'm coming." Tae shook his head, snapping back to the present as he followed Jimin to the car.
As they drove through the streets, Tae's eyes wandered. The roads, the buildings, the people – everything had changed. Yet, beneath the surface, the weight of both beautiful and painful memories tugged at him, refusing to be forgotten.
They stood at the entrance of the grand Park Mansion, the place quiet and somber. A servant bowed respectfully, taking their luggage as they stepped inside. The weight of the situation was heavy in the air. Tae remained silent, unsure of what to say, as he watched Jimin’s expression crumble the moment he laid eyes on Jin.
Jin stood there, eyes swollen from crying, barely able to hold himself together. Without hesitation, Jimin ran to him, tears streaming down his face as he threw his arms around his older brother. They held each other, sobbing uncontrollably, their shared grief palpable.
Tae stayed back, watching quietly. He wasn’t sure how to comfort them in this moment. The sight of Jin and Jimin, both lost in their emotions, left him feeling helpless. Still, he knew his place was here with them, even if all he could do was stand by silently.
"Where’s Granny?" Tae finally asked, his voice soft but steady.
"In her room," Jin replied between sobs, his voice barely audible.
