Y/n
Markiplier was trying to convince Y/n to go to VidCon... again.
"Mark," Y/n said, slower that time. "You know I don't do YouTube conventions. They don't interest me, and I don't belong. My type of content isn't that... flashy? Is that the word? I don't know, but I'm not a powerhouse like you and Sean."
"But we want you there, and what are you talking about? Of course you're a powerhouse. Just because your content isn't gaming doesn't mean it's not flashy and cool. I watch it to sleep all the time."
Y/n grinned at that, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. Mark had been her #1 fan for a long time, and she couldn't help but want to thank him over and over again for sticking by her side.
For once, they were meeting in-person. As internet dwellers, they didn't get out much, but that day they decided to meet up for tea. Not coffee since caffeine made them both too jumpy at times, and they didn't want to risk it. However, tea helped with serious conversations such as that one. Bonus points if the cafe had pretty decorations, and that one did.
She forgot the name of it, but it started with a Y. It was some fancy cafe in Los Angeles that Mark went to here and there. With his movie coming out soon, he had been doing far more all-nighters, and that cafe was friendly to late workers. It was small but memorable, featuring wooden tables that never creaked along with some booths. It had a calm color scheme, with lots of woodsy brown colors matched with soft yellows, most of which coming from the ceiling fan lights.
The atmosphere matched what Y/n looked for in a place. Like her channel, she preferred calm environments, and the cafe had just that. There was little chatter. In fact, there were more sounds of people sipping on their coffee and tea than sounds of conversations. Soft classical music played from the speakers overhead, and the waitresses wore cute white aprons that had the company logo, an orange cat, on them.
"You're my best friend. You're obligated to support me," she said before taking a sip of her tea. It was a standard herbal one that had a lime green hue to it. The taste didn't matter as much as the heat did. Hot drinks always soothed her soul, and the tea was no different. "That doesn't convince me to go to VidCon. Try again."
Sweaty people and loud music in one giant building? No thanks. VidCon gathered all the fans and creators to celebrate visual media, and while she could respect the dedication and the sheer size of the convention, that didn't mean it appealed to her. She'd rather stay home and cuddle with her unicorn plushies.
"It's been a while since you've seen the whole gang. Doesn't that sound nice? Sean, Charlie, Poki, Rae... me?"
Mark's pouty voice almost convinced her, but the idea of enduring social interaction made her cringe. As much as she liked Mark, she couldn't stand those massive events with loud noises and irritating people. If they wanted to meet up, they could do it anywhere else with far less attention on them so they had time to have conversations. At VidCon, they'd spend more time shouting over one another just to be heard.
"I don't know, we can meet up anytime," she said, but Mark shook that off.
"No, we can't. You know my schedule with Iron Lung. This could be the last chance for me to go to an event like this for a while, and as much as I want to meet up with the gang outside of it, it'll be harder. I don't sleep, Y/n. And it isn't because I'm having trouble doing it, it's because I don't have time to. This is the last time for a while I have free time. Please?"
Alright, that borderline convinced her. Mark had a point: with him working on his movie, Iron Lung, he had been spending the majority of his time eating ramen, getting In-N-Out, not sleeping, editing, and avoiding social interaction. Huh. Sounded like Y/n.
"Well..."
When she trailed off, Mark gave her puppy eyes, and she nibbled on her lower lip as she weighed the pros and cons. It would be an annoying event to go to, but Mark needed her, and she would do anything for him. If it really mattered to him that she go, she would without question-
"Jimin will be there."
"'Kay, I'm going," she said without thinking, and Mark snorted at that. She rushed to wave her hands back and forth as if performing a jazz song. "I was gonna say yes anyway! My Markimoo needs me, so... yeah. But Jimin going is a nice plus."
"Well, I think he's going. I don't see why he wouldn't. Wouldn't it be nice to meet him for the first time?"
Yeah, it would. Y/n bet he looked even better in person. Y'know what, she didn't care if that made her sound like a simp, it was true. Twitter said Jimin looked better in real life, so she took their word for it. She didn't know why she was trusting Twitter, but she was delulu, and she was beyond excited to meet the man she was growing fond to.
"I'd go for you too, y'know," she said, and he smiled.
"Would you, or are you just saying that?"
"I would. You're my best friend, Mark. You've always been by my side, and I want to be by yours. If there's anything I can do to help with your movie, let me know, okay? I'd love to take the stress off your shoulders."
"Thank you, Y/n." Mark kept his smile and sipped from his tea one last time. "And I'm happy for you. I hope you and Jimin make it happen."
For once, he didn't have a teasing tone, and that had her laughing like a schoolgirl. She felt hot at the thought of Jimin, and she had to drink her beverage to distract herself. Welp, she had Mark's blessing, so that was what caused her to fluster up so much. The guy best friend's opinion was considered the holy grail, and if he approved of Jimin, that was it.
It was time for Y/n to bag that man.
