"Sage!" Karina yelled as she put her hand on the dash board. Sage made a grimacing face and continued to look straight. "You about to piss me off. You too old to be in this fast car anyways." Karina said.
"Too old? I look and feel young."
"You may look young but we both know that by 3 pm your knees and back get to aching. Meaning your old as hell." Karina shrugged.
"I can turn this car around and drop yo bean head ass back at the house. Then you'll cook for yourself and do your own hair." Karina looked towards Sage.
"You were gonna pay for my hair too?" She asked softly and Sage didn't respond. Karina smiled and zipped her lips, putting the imaginary key in the cup holder.
"Yea that's what I thought." Karina chuckled and shook her head as they made their way to brunch.
Sage wanted to do something nice for Karina since she's been so stressed and irritated lately. Since the kids were coming to his house later that day and staying until Monday evening, he thought it would be good to also get Karina out the house as well.
"I have a headache." Karina said as she rubbed her temples.
"Already? You just woke up not too long ago."
"Let's just hurry up and get some food before I pass out or sum."
Shortly, they arrived at a new brunch spot and ate their food. Karina and Sage hadn't spent time with each other in so long but it felt good to be around each other again, without all the stress and drama. After eating, Sage took Karina to her old salon so she could get her hair done.
"Imma be back in two hours to come get you." Sage said and Karina nodded.
"Thank you Sage. I really appreciate this."
"Of course. Don't let them play in yo head tho cause i'm not paying for it."
"Shut up!" Karina laughed and closed the door.
"Mrs.Brown!! It's so lovely to see you! It's been ages." A young white women named Sarah said.
"Hello Sarah, and yes it has. How's business?"
"It's really good. We miss you around here."
"I miss y'all too. I have an appointment in 10 minutes."
"Yes! She's ready now if you want to head back there. If you are thirsty or hungry, just let me know."
"Thank you beautiful." Karina went to the back and smiled at her good friend.
"I thought they were lying when they said you booked an appointment!! I missed you girl!!" Ebonie said loudly while embracing Karina in a tight hug.
"I missed you too!! How is everything?" Karina sat in the chair.
"Girl kids getting on my nerves, my oldest son just had a baby a few months ago."
