It was stupidly late when Y/N woke up, her throat dry as a desert. The moonlight slipped through the curtains, painting the walls with faint silver patterns. She reached for the water on her bedside table and took a sip. That's when she heard it—her dad's car engine rumbling outside.

Curiosity hit hard. Peeking through the curtains, she spotted her dad and brother standing near the car, deep in conversation. Their body language? Sketchy. They were up to something, no doubt. Her heart picked up speed.

Her dad and Namjoon had always been mysterious, keeping secrets like it was their full-time job. The difference? Namjoon actually cared about her. Their dad? Not so much. He barely acknowledged her existence unless she was causing trouble.

Now was her chance to finally figure out what they were hiding.

With zero hesitation, she slipped downstairs, grabbed her bike, and quietly followed them as their car rolled out. The night air was cool, and the streets were eerily empty. Adrenaline buzzed through her as she pedaled, keeping just far enough to stay unnoticed.

She trailed them through dark alleys and empty streets until the car took a sharp turn into a seriously sketchy part of town. The kind of place where even Google Maps would tell you to turn around.

She stopped near a broken streetlight, ditching her bike behind some trash bins. Her dad's car had pulled up near an old guy leaning against a brick wall, looking way too chill for a midnight meetup. Sus.

Her dad stepped out, cautiously greeting the man. "Mr. Jeon, what's with the late-night meetup?"

Before the old man could respond—BANG. A gunshot ripped through the air.

Y/N's heart stopped. Her whole body locked up as a masked figure swooped in from nowhere, yanking Mr. Jeon out of harm's way just in time. The bullet barely missed. The masked guy wasted zero time, pulling out his own gun and firing back at the shooter. Y/N's brain was moving too slow to process. What the actual hell was going on?

Then, out of the shadows, someone else stepped forward.

Jeon Jungkook. The infamous leader of the Black Rose mafia. No mask. No hesitation. Just pure danger.

Y/N's breath caught in her throat. He looked exactly like the rumors—cold, untouchable, and terrifyingly calm in the middle of absolute chaos.

The shooter tried to escape, but Jungkook was faster. In seconds, he had the guy pinned, gun pressed against his temple. The man thrashed, panic written all over his face.

Jungkook's voice was icy as he demanded, "Tell me Zalgo's plan. Or die."

The guy stammered, "I don't know! I'm just his sniper!"

Jungkook smirked. "Then you're useless."

The trigger clicked. The sound of the gunshot was deafening in the stillness of the night. The man slumped to the ground, lifeless. Y/N slapped a hand over her mouth to stop the scream rising in her throat. Her legs felt weak, her vision blurred. She had just watched a man get killed. What the hell did I just witness?

She heard something drop nearby. A soft thud. Y/N's whole body tensed. Shit. Did someone hear her?Jungkook's men were scanning the area, but no one moved toward her. She was still hidden in the shadows. For now.

Jungkook didn't even blink at the dead body. He just turned to Mr. Jeon, brushing off the tension like it was nothing more than a mild inconvenience."Thanks for cooperating," he said. But Mr. Jeon wasn't as calm. He exploded, his voice filled with fury. "You risked our lives for this? You could've gotten us killed!" he said furiously.

Jungkook didn't reply. He simply walked away, indifferent, leaving his father and Y/N's father standing there, speechless. Y/N's father, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly muttered,

"It's your fault he turned out like this." His voice was low, but it carried the weight of years of frustration. He shot a glance at the bloodstained pavement where the sniper had fallen, the echoes of the gunshot still ringing in the night air. "He's reckless. He doesn't care about anyone, not even himself."

Mr. Jeon took a long, deep breath, his face calm but his eyes sharp with a steely determination. He flicked the ashes from his cigar, the tip glowing faintly in the darkness. "He doesn't need fixing. He needs someone to change him."

Y/N's father scoffed, disbelief etched into his features. "You mean marrying him off to some girl? He can't even take care of his own life, let alone a wife. Do you think tying him to someone is going to magically fix everything?" There was an edge of desperation in his voice, the thought almost too absurd to consider.

Mr. Jeon smiled slightly, a grim, calculating expression crossing his face. "He will. He just needs the right girl." His gaze drifted thoughtfully, scanning the darkened horizon as if he was already plotting his next move. "Han's daughter crossed my mind... but no. She isn't the one. No, it should be better..." His eyes slowly shifted back toward Y/N's father, narrowing with intent. "Your daughter Kim Hyun Jun."

Y/N's father barely reacted at first. He didn't look shocked, just annoyed."No."

Mr. Jeon tilted his head. "She is a good fit."

"No. I won't let her marry that man." His voice was flat, not protective—just irritated. "You really think she's the answer? She's not even responsible enough to take care of herself."

His tone was dismissive, like she was some random inconvenience in his life rather than his own daughter."She doesn't even know I'm in the mafia," he added, like it was a hassle more than a deep, dark secret.

Mr. Jeon's expression darkened, his patience running out."You dare to disobey me?" His voice was cold, edged with warning. "You know what happens when people cross me."

A cold shiver ran down Y/N's father's spine. He knew damn well there wasn't a choice.Still, he sighed like this whole thing was exhausting. "Fine. Do whatever you want," he muttered. "Just don't expect me to get involved."

And in the shadows, Y/N stood frozen. Her dad was in the mafia. And now she was supposed to marry Jungkook? Her pulse pounded in her ears. Her breath came in short gasps. It was too much. Way too much.

Her vision blurred, her legs wobbled—then everything faded to black. She collapsed.

Her world was about to change forever, and she didn't even know it.
