JUNGKOOK'S POV:
The tension in the air was thick, but in a way that felt exciting, like the calm before a storm. There was a shift, something unspoken between us. The distance between us seemed to vanish at that moment. My chest tightened as I felt that pull toward her—her presence, her energy—like a magnet drawing me in. It was as if I was waiting for permission to leap, to lean into the emotions we'd both been holding back. But this moment felt right. It felt like the beginning of something bigger, something more than just the quiet, hidden exchanges we'd shared up until now.
I took a step closer, but before I could close the distance, my phone buzzed in my pocket. The call seemed to cut through the air like a knife, breaking the spell between us. My fingers instinctively reached for my phone, the moment of connection slipping away faster than I could keep up with it. I quickly glanced at the screen and saw Alex's name.
"Damn it, Alex," I muttered under my breath, cursing him in my mind. The timing couldn't have been worse.
I cleared my throat, masking the frustration that gnawed at me and answered. "What is it, Alex?" I could already hear the tension in his voice.
"Mr. Jeon," Alex said, his voice strained and business-like, the way he always spoke to me. "There's something urgent. I need to report it right away."
I had half a mind to hang up and return to the conversation I was having with Y/N, but I knew better than to let business slip through the cracks. "Fine, talk to me," I said, trying to push back the wave of impatience.
The call dragged on longer than it should have. My gaze flickered back to Y/N, who had stepped away, her cheeks flushed with color—probably from the proximity, from the closeness that had been building between us. I could still see the spark in her eyes, the same spark that had been there before the damn phone call interrupted us. It was like a whisper between us, something that would hang in the air, lingering long after this evening was over.
When the call finally ended, I didn't waste any time. I dropped my phone onto the counter and turned back to Y/N, my eyes locking with hers. She hadn't moved, but I could tell she was still processing what had just happened.
"You okay?" I asked, my voice low, a mixture of guilt and anticipation.
She gave me a small nod, but I could see the way her heart was racing. Her blush hadn't faded, and the look in her eyes said it all—she felt the same pull I did. The same excitement, the same promise of something more.
"I'm fine," she replied, though the warmth on her cheeks betrayed her. "Just... wasn't expecting that." She smiled, her eyes shining. "It was... nice."
I chuckled softly, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "Nice, huh?" I said, the word leaving my lips almost like a challenge. It felt so damn good to be this close to her, to have the space between us vanish, if only for a moment. "You're not the only one who wasn't expecting that."
The room fell silent again, but it wasn't uncomfortable. It was the kind of silence that happens when two people are on the same page when their hearts are in sync even though neither of them knows exactly where the story is going yet.
I took a deep breath and stepped back slightly, my mind racing as I tried to push through the haze of thoughts and emotions swirling in my head. There was something about this moment, something about her, that I couldn't let go of. It was like a whisper, calling me to follow her, to take a risk for once. To step out of the shadows and into something real.
"Jungkook," she spoke up, her voice pulling me back from my thoughts. "Can we go out tomorrow? Just the two of us?"
The question caught me off guard, but I didn't hesitate. It sounded simple, but the idea of it... of being outside this house, with no one watching, no one else around—it felt like freedom.
"Out where?" I asked, genuinely curious.
She shrugged lightly, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "I don't know... anywhere. Just want to spend time with you. Just us."
Her words sent a wave of warmth through me, and I couldn't suppress the smile that tugged at the corners of my mouth.
"You want to go out without the guards?" I raised an eyebrow, a little surprised at how easily she was asking for something so... simple. But then again, with everything I had been keeping her away from, this felt like a breath of fresh air. It was bold. It was freeing. And for once, I liked the idea.
"Exactly," she said with an enthusiasm that I couldn't help but admire. "Just us, Jungkook. No one else. I want to feel... free. Even if it's just for a little while."
My mind immediately tried to calculate the risks, the dangers, and the potential problems of being out in public with no security, and no protection. But something about the look in her eyes made me want to throw all that out the window.
I exhaled, running a hand through my hair. "Alright," I said, nodding slowly. "Just us. No guards."
I could see the relief flood her face, the excitement building again. She was more than happy with the agreement, and seeing that joy in her eyes made me feel like I had made the right choice.
"Really?" she asked, barely able to contain her excitement.
"Yeah," I said, my voice steady. "We'll make it happen."
---
The next day, I found myself sitting in my office, my thoughts drifting back to Y/N and our conversation. I couldn't stop thinking about how she had looked at me when I agreed to go out with her, how the idea of just being with her without the shadow of my world hovering over us felt almost... intoxicating. But then, of course, reality hit when Alex walked into my office, his expression unreadable as always.
"Mr. Jeon," he said, his voice as professional as ever. "We've got a problem that needs your attention."
I leaned back in my chair, rubbing my temples. "What is it now, Alex?"
He started talking, but I barely heard him. My thoughts were elsewhere—on her. On Y/N. The idea of spending time with her, of getting away from everything, consumed me more than anything else. My mind wandered back to her request, and before I even realized it, I was lost in the thought of her smile, of the way her eyes sparkled when she looked at me.
Taehyung, who had been sitting across the room, turned to me with a teasing grin. "What's going on with you, Jungkook?" he asked. "You've been spaced out all day."
Alex shot Taehyung a look, but I could see the smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. "I'm just thinking," I muttered, barely acknowledging them.
"Thinking?" Taehyung laughed. "Well, that's a first. About what? Y/N?"
I shot him a warning look, but his teasing only made my thoughts clearer. "Shut up, Tae."
Alex raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Jeon," he said, his tone a little softer now. "I don't mean to intrude, but... Y/N? Really?"
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "Yeah. But don't say anything to anyone. I'm figuring it out."
"Good luck," Alex smirked. "And, uh, if you need a place for your... date, I can suggest a few things. A quiet beach somewhere, maybe? Something private."
I froze. "A beach?" I repeated, my mind clicking into place. "Yeah... I think that's perfect."
Taehyung chuckled. "Romantic, huh? Never pegged you for a romantic, Jeon."
"Shut up," I growled, but the truth was, I didn't mind the idea. It was simple and peaceful. Just the two of us.
"Alright, Alex," I said, finally focusing on business again. "Make the arrangements. I want everything set for tomorrow."
As the conversation wrapped up and Alex left the room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation building within me. Tomorrow... It would be just us. No guards. No expectations. Just the two of us, free to explore whatever this connection was. And that, more than anything else, was something I was looking forward to.
