I dragged myself to the training room some minutes before Toni's deadline. I was not going to risk getting cut from the running. I had too much riding on this. The thought of my poor aunt had my chest aching.

She had done more than enough for me. Taking me in when I lost my parents and raising me as her own. She had three very young children of her own that she was raising by herself. Her husband had abandoned her the year prior. She hardly had any time to herself, working different jobs to make ends meet and making sure she took care of the house. So the task of watching over my cousins inevitably fell on my shoulders. I made sure to stay out of trouble since she already had so much on her plate.

If I got cut, I would have to go back home with my tail between my legs. Basically a disgrace. And I would have to live off my poor aunt until I could get back on my feet. Becoming a liability once again.

"Nice of you to join us." Yvonne called out when I opened the door to the training room.

"I wouldn't want to miss more training." I playfully rolled my eyes.

"Oh she speaks." Yvonne cackled. "You've been having a mouth on you these days. I love this side of you."

"Thanks I guess?"

Toni sped up and knocked Yvonne off her feet, making her land with an 'oof' on her butt.

"Quit flirti- I mean enough small talk. Try some training instead will you?" Toni barked.

Yvonne looked at her, clearly bemused then shifted her eyes back to me. Did I miss something? "You heard the girl. Let's do some training."

"So what are we going to be doing?" I asked.

"We're going to train for combat with and without powers." Toni walked to the other end of the room.

"Basically we're going to be developing our powers while also training for when our powers 'refuse to cooperate' or whatever it was trainer Catherine said that time." Yvonne stood up and dusted herself off.

"Since you're late, you're going to be starting." Toni informed me. "Give me all you've got." She got into her sprinting position.

She speed ran to me but only got halfway. I wasted no time in absorbing the vibrations of her movements with my feet. Quickly lifting my hands to channel those vibrations, I sent her floating.

"My turn." I heard Yvonne say before a strong gust of wind hit me. I planted my feet more firmly into the ground and used my other hand to send her floating into the air.

"Oh my goodness." Yvonne squealed excitedly and kicked her feet in the air. "This is awesome."

"Oh my God. Those boys wouldn't let me leave." Jacqueline barged into the room, distracting me and making me drop Toni and Yvonne.

"My poor bumbum." Yvonne groaned.

"Oops." Jacqueline's eyes looked around the room frantically.

"Nice of you to join us." Toni folded her ams, not bothering to hide her annoyance.

"I got caught up." Jacqueline shrugged and moved further into the room.

"Yeah. With your little boyfriends."

"They're not my boyfriends. We're just friends."

Toni chuckled. "Sure you are."

"Oh I'm sorry. I had no idea it was illegal for girls to be friends with boys." Jacqueline mirrored Toni, arms folded and indignation burning in her eyes.

"You may be friends with them but those boys aren't."

"What are you talking about?"

"The one with electric powers wants something else from you."

"What?"

"You don't see the way he looks at you?" Toni threw her head back and laughed. "He wants you. Badly."

"I'm not going to stand here and here this." Jacqueline walked out and marched away.

"What just happened?" I blinked, extremely confused then turned to Toni. "Where did all that come from?"

"You wouldn't understand." Yvonne shook her head, a disappointed look on her face as she gazed at nothing in particular from where she was on the floor.
