All I wanted was to practice so I would avoid getting possibly taken out of the running. Making it into the S-Force was my only lifeline. I couldn't afford to not get a spot in the S-Force. I would be out on the streets. Helpless and alone once again.
Instead of a practice session, I got accusations heaped on me and I was put on the spot for something that was no fault of mine. My mood was ruined and I had the motivation sucked out of me. I would just have to settle for practising extra hard tomorrow morning and finding a place to secretly practice alone in the evenings.
"What's wrong?" Spencer walked up to me.
"Got into a fight with my friends." I huffed.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"I don't know." I shook my head. "I'm so confused right now. I don't even understand why we were fighting. It just came out of nowhere."
"It's alright." He pulled me into a hug.
I inhaled deeply, taking in his scent. I hadn't really been hugged in so long. I felt my eyes water but I blinked them back. I saw Han Dae-woo step out of the common room and I pulled away from Spencer.
"Thanks Spence." I smiled warmly at him.
"Anytime." He returned my smile and with a final pat on my arm, he walked past me and headed off in the direction he previously intended to go. Probably to the restrooms.
"Mm... hi." I tried to say to defuse the strange tension that had appeared out of nowhere.
Dae-woo said nothing, only stared at me with a look I didn't like. The way he looked at me reminded me of what Toni said. I shook my head to rid myself of the thought.
"I'm just going to get some water." I cautiously stepped around him and headed to the side of the common room that had snacks and refreshments. I picked up a cup from the purifying saucer and placed it under the water dispensing machine.
"Being so thirsty must be hard huh?" I heard Dae-woo say from behind me as I drank my water.
"Huh?" I turned around to find him with a sneer on his face. "I'm just drinking water."
"Sure." He rolled his eyes like I said something ease. "Just dri- you don't get it do you?"
"Get what? What are you talking about?"
"You're always throwing yourself at Spence." He threw his arms in the air.
"What?"
"Don't pretend to be obtuse."
"It's definitely not like that." I put down the empty cup. "We don't see each other that way."
"Whatever." He huffed and stalked off.
I watched him walk away, confused at what had just happened. Something was definitely in the air today. First Toni lost her mind and now Han Dae Woo. I needed to get out of here.
"Hey what's the rush? Lights out aren't for another three hours." Spence had practically appeared out of thin air as I rushed out of the common room.
"I just- I- I don't know- Han Dae Woo went off on me out of nowhere about you like he thinks I like you or something."
"But you do like me. Don't you?" Spence asked, brows furrowed.
"Yes but he thinks I like you in a way that you can't like people." I explained.
He let out a laugh of disbelief. "What?"
"I think you should tell him."
Another laugh of disbelief then he suddenly stopped. "Wait you're actually serious."
"As a cardiac arrest."
"Why does he have to know?"
"To stop all these wild ideas he has about us in his head." I said like it was obvious. "He needs to understand that nothing can never happen between us."
"I don't know if I can." He looked down, almost as if in shame.
"Spence please." I took his hands in mine. "He's not going to tell anyone."
"But he will see me differently."
"No he won't." I quieted my voice. "Being asexual is definitely normal in this age."
"I know I just- I know he's going to react strangely."
"If he does then he is the strange one."
Spence swallowed, a war clearly going on in his mind. I just hoped he would tell Dae-woo and he wouldn't have a strange reaction.
