The S-Force

11: Toni

Catherine brought in two people we haven't seen before. They stood tall, confident and proud. The air of cockiness around them could be felt in every corner of the room.

"Winifred and Rocco are senior trainees. After two years of training, they are the only two who will be joining the Super Force as their newest members by the end of the year."

The girl who I assumed to be Winifred was pale skinned with pale brown hair. The boy Rocco had dark hair and thick eyebrows. They looked to be slightly older than us.

"You're all going to spar against them today." The murmurs began but with a stern eyebrow raise from the head of trainees, everyone went silent again.

We were divided into two groups to go against them in pairs. We were allowed to use our powers but they weren't but that made no difference. They easily put everyone to the floor.

"Do you have a plan?" I asked the person I was paired with as we both watched Winifred pin down two boys with no difficulty.

"I'm just going to take it." My partner shrugged.

"Yeah I don't think so." I shook my head and turned to watch a girl desperately trying to get out of Winnie's grip. "I can make use of my speed and portal. She will not be able to see it coming."

My partner sighed. "If you win against her, Catherine is going to give you attention. Attention means more training."

"More training means having an edge over everyone else which leads to a secure spot in the S-For- I mean Super Force."

"So what's your plan?" She finally asked.

"I just told you. I'm going to use my speed to portal her out of the room."

"Alright. So what am I doing?"

I winced at the look on a girl's face as Winifred overpowered her and twisted her arm. "What are your abilities?"

"Telekinesis and extra strength."

I turned to look at her, sizing her up. "You're her!"

She smiled an uncomfortable smile in reply.

"Wait I sat with you at the lunch room yesterday."

"Yeah I was hoping you don't remember that." She sighed.

"I remember your name now... Kylie."

"Yeah you remember me and my name. What of the plan?"

"Oh right the plan." I looked over at the girl we were going to spar with any minute. "Your telekinesis. When she's portaling you suspend her in the air before she lands so she doesn't recover easily."

"Hope this works." She turned to face our opponent just in time to see her stalking over to us.

"Get ready to hug the ground rookies." She sneered.

I cocked my head to the side, my lips spread in a scornful smile. "Ok." I simply said then took off.

I narrowly missed her attempts to catch me several times. Her attempts threw me off a bit, the fireworks and electricity that usually ran through me whenever I was about to portal kept going out and the chasm took a while to form. Winnie got a hold of my sleeve just as she fell through the portal.

"Kylie! Now!" I called out just as I was pulled into the portal by Winnie. I felt myself lose control of my body and for a moment I was weightless. Then the chasm closed and I landed on top of Winnie.

"Get off of me." She snarled and pushed me aside. I laughed when I rolled onto my back.

"It worked. We did it." I laughed.

My victory lasted for all of one second before I felt myself get turned over and pinned to the ground.

"I refuse to be bested by a rookie trainee." I heard her snarl over me.
