THE BATTLE WITH THE BASILISK
A large screeching caw came from the other end of the Chamber, near the entrance. A large red and gold bird came soaring through the door and down the tunnel. As it reached us, I realized it was a phoenix, which was a XXXX in Newt Scamander's book. The bird dropped something and Harry caught it. It soared back around to exit the tunnel. Harry unraveled the object to be a dusty hat. I questioned, "The Sorting Hat?"
Tom laughs, "So this is what Dumbledore sends his great defender? A songbird and an old hat."
I sensed we were in major trouble now and we're defenseless! Tom turns away and raises his hand out to the Statue of Salazar Slytherin. He starts chanting in Parseltongue, the mouth of the Slytherin slowly lowers. Riddle turns to us, "Let's match the power of Lord Voldemort, Heir of Salazar Slytherin, against the famous Harry Potter, and his stupid mudblood friend."
A loud hissing noise is heard from the statue so I slowly start to back up. The head of the Basilisk starts poking out of the mouth, I shout to Harry, "RUN!"
We turn around and dash to the exit. Tom shouts to us, "Parseltongue won't save you now, Potter! It only obeys me!"
The large basilisk starts slithering after us and we're desperate to reach the iron door and get out of the Chamber. As I reach the door, I hear Harry trip and fall. I stop in my tracks to help him, helping him get up and grab his glasses in haste.
The basilisk is about to attack when the screech of the phoenix returns. It dives through one of the tunnels and attacks the basilisk, scratching its eyes out. When the phoenix has done it's worst, it retreats once again.
Tom screams, "NO! Your bird may have blinded the basilisk, but it can still hear you!"
Harry stepped backwards. The basilisk heard him walking through the water, so it pointed its head in our direction. Too late to stay together, we both run in separate directions, but as I'm closer to the great snake, the basilisk follows me.
I run through a tunnel to the right, trying to change direction at every opportunity I get to escape. Unfortunately, the basilisk can still hear me, it's hissing growing louder every second trying to catch up to me.
As I turned a corner, I ran into a problem, a dead end. I look behind me to see the basilisk's snout poking around the corner. I lay down on the ground to avoid the basilisk lunging at me and covered my mouth tightly to not make any noise. I closed my eyes hoping it wouldn't catch me. Its hissing, grows louder with every inch it moves closer.
I open my eyes wide to see the underside of it, it's right above me. It moved forward just about to touch me until it stopped, it hit its snout on the wall of the dead end. Stunned, it backed up, slithering out of the dead end and moved along the tunnel, disappearing.
After all of the sixty feet of snake passes by, I slowly move my hands from my mouth and breathe ever so quietly. I stand up and make my way back to the main Chamber. I'm in a different place, I see Tom with his back facing me. I took off my shoes as I didn't want him to hear my footsteps, the wet feeling was gross on my feet. I exit the tunnel sneaking behind him, then I pounce on him reaching into his robes and pulling out my wand.
Aiming right at him, I shout a barrel of spells, "Expelliarmus! Rictusempra! Locomotor Wibbly! Everte Statum! Petrificus Totalus!"
They all get blocked when he shouts, "Protego!"
I throw spell after spell, Riddle wasn't even throwing one spell at me. I chant even more spells until he shouts one thing, "Stupefy!"
