Xie Lian extends a hand, caressing the flower before gently picking it off the ground. It is cupped between his palms, like a treasure so fragile that it might shatter, and he lowers his head to plant a brief kiss on its petal.
It's okay, he comforts himself. Since he showed up now, then that means I can find traces of him from now on. I wouldn't have to wander in the dark and think I'm chasing the tail of a nonexistence ghost.
Xie Lian's gaze harden, determined to find out the answers to the questions he desperately wants to ask Yunlan-shifu.

After reporting to the heavens, the first thing Xie Lian does is to gather any information remotely associated with Yunlan-shifu. He also asks the gods, right after finding out who the Crimson Rain Sought Flower was, about the 'youth' from eight hundred years ago.
That youth was known as a living medical miracle, a young man favored by nature. He had the power to accelerate the growth of plants and even 'revive' extinct medicinal plants. Back then, the Heaven Officials were looking forward to greeting this medical miracle and his brother. However, who knew, their names were suddenly wiped out from the memories of the people.
No one remembered who they were, their stupendous feats of single-handedly supporting an entire kingdom and reviving its economy. No one remembered the kindness they spread from city to city, from village to village. No one remembered how they practically worshipped them that they only needed to wait for the heavenly tribulation to ascend.
As if both brothers were simply a figment of everyone's imagination. However, that was not the case at all. The Heavenly Officials remembered the Hua brothers, Hua Yunlan and Hua Min. They remembered their deeds and their feats, but the mortal realm completely forgot about them.
This begs the question; who erased the humans' memories of the brothers? Until now, Xie Lian does not know the answer.
The crown prince is searching for any significant events that happened during his time in the mortal realm. He digs through many books and even foregoing sleep and eating some times. Only when he stumbles upon the word plague does he come to a halt. It brings back memories that he'd rather not recall.
Hm? Xin... lan flowers? I think I've heard of them before when I was collecting scraps but... huh? Xinlan flowers are the byproducts of the Flower Heart Disease? For once, Xie Lian scolds himself for not being updated about the ongoings in the mortal realm. Such a big disaster like the Flower Heart Disease, he did not find out until now.
According to the book, the news of this disease was so widespread that all nations have heard of it. Yet, Xie Lian this crown prince, only found out now.
"..." I really need to get updated.
He digs through more scrolls, just to rid himself of embarrassment of not knowing what happens in the mortal realm. Just as he was in the middle of deciding what year to start with, he sees a book without a name, only with a plain black cover. This piques his interest as other books are in blue or green.
