[24] The Hard Choice

Adriens POV:

I kissed Ari on the cheek and walked out of my room while closing the door behind me. I made my way down the stairs that led towards the door of my father's office.

I was panicking because he had never sent Nathalie to summon me, but when he does, it's usually to discuss my schedule of the amount of classes he has forced me to do.

Plagg flew out of my jacket pocket that he lives in and sat on my shoulder.

"You know, I get the feeling that you don't really want to see him." Plagg said with boredom.

"I really don't know why he's summoned me all of a sudden. It's very unusual." I sighed. Plagg ended up patting my shoulder with his little hand, trying to calm the nerves.

"Suck it up, Adrien. You're Cat Noir. The greatest superhero in Paris alongside the very beautiful Raena Rougette who is by the way your first and only girlfriend. So, it can't be that bad." Plagg explained.

"I suppose you're right. Now, could you please get back into my pocket before my father discovers you." I pleaded with Plagg because if I didn't, he would be a stubborn cat.

"Alrighty then." Plagg sighed, then flew back into my jacket pocket.

Once I reached my father's office door. I knocked twice before I heard a muffled "come in." Once inside I closed the door behind me and looked at my father still sitting behind his desk with his double computer monitors showing the latest designs he's been working on.

"You summoned me, Father." I said and started fidgeting with my miraculous ring as I always do.

He looked up and smiled at me. I swear it was a genuine smile that a loving father should always give to their child, but my father was no loving father by all means. He was the worst kind that made me follow his orders and never spends any time with me, but, this time, I swear I saw a genuine smile on his chiselled features which completely wiped off once I noticed it.

"Ah, yes, Adrien, my son. I have a few things to discuss with you." He said as he motioned to one of the chairs in front of his desk for me to sit on.

I sat on the chair that my father pointed to and I decided to fidget with my ring again since it gave me comfort. I could also feel Plagg trying to calm me down by patting my chest as he could feel how hard my heart is thumping.

I took a deep breath in to gain the confidence to look my father in the eyes.

"What is it that you want to talk to me about Father?" I said with pure confidence. He just smirked at me.

"I want you to not see Aretusa anymore." He said with a hint of malice in his tone.

"What do you mean not see Aretusa?" I said with confusion in my tone then continued. "As in not see her or to not date her?" I questioned.

"I want you to break up with her since I don't see that she suits you anymore." He said then continued on. "I see how she treats you. I see the way you rebel against my orders because of her."

I looked on in shock at my What my father is saying to me. I cannot believe he had the audacity to say that about the love of my life. I love Aretusa with all my heart, she has been there through my darkest days even when I'm in my Cat Noir form. She completes me, but I really don't have the nerve to say any of this to my father since he's the type of man that disapproves everything that I even do. I just can't.
