Maloi's POV

I've been eyeing this girl that my best friend, Jhoanna Robles used to date. She's Colet Vergara, a pharmacy student who seemed passionate about her dreams. She wears this thick eyeglass which makes her more attractive.

I watched Colet from afar, my heart filled with admiration and a touch of envy. Colet was everything I aspired to be: confident, intelligent, and effortlessly cool. She was the girl who seemed to have it all, the girl everyone wanted to be like.

I was determined. I had waited patiently, biding my time until I was ready to make my move. I knew that Colet was a rare gem, and I wasn't going to let anyone else get to her first.

The night of New Year's Eve, as the fireworks lit up the sky, I found myself staring at my phone, my finger hovering over Colet's contact.  A part of me wanted to forget about my feelings because she's my best friend's ex fling, I just wanted to move on. But another part of me couldn't let go. I had admired Colet for so long, and the thought of never knowing what could have been was too painful to bear.

With a deep breath, I typed out a message. "Happy New Year, Colet. I hope this year brings you everything you want."

I hesitated for a moment, then added, "And maybe, just maybe, it will bring us closer together."

I hit send and waited, my heart pounding in my chest. A few minutes later, my phone buzzed. It was a message from Colet.

"Happy New Year to you too, Maloi. And maybe, just maybe, it will."

One evening, as we were sitting on a park bench, watching the sunset, Colet turned to me and said, "Maloi, I've been thinking a lot about you ever since we started talking."

My heart raced. I knew what she was going to say, but I couldn't help but feel a surge of hope.

"I've realized that I have feelings for you," Colet continued. "I've been trying to deny it for so long, but I can't anymore. I know others may find this weird. Like you know, having a feelings with my ex fling's best friend but I can't help it anymore. This feeling is too strong. "

Tears welled up in my eyes. I had waited so long for this moment, and now it was finally happening.

I reached out and took Colet's hand. "I love you," I said, my voice barely a whisper.

Colet smiled, her eyes sparkling. "I love you too," she replied.

And just like that, our lives changed forever. We were together, finally. And as we watched the sun dip below the horizon, I knew that our future together was filled with endless possibilities.

Colet and I's love story continued to blossom as we embarked on a new chapter in our lives: college. We decided to rent our own place in Baguio City, a cozy little apartment nestled amidst the pine trees.

Living together was a whirlwind of both joy and challenges. We shared laughter, dreams, and late-night study sessions. But like any couple, we also had our fair share of disagreements and playful banter.

One day, while cleaning our apartment, a heated argument broke out over the placement of a bookshelf. Words were exchanged, feelings were hurt, and for a moment, it seemed like our bond was on the verge of breaking. But true to our tom and jerry-like nature, we soon found ourselves laughing about the whole ordeal.

Another time, I accidentally spilled coffee all over Colet's favorite sweater. Colet's initial reaction was to scold me, but she quickly burst into laughter when she saw my sheepish expression. We spent the rest of the day teasing each other and making up silly scenarios where I had accidentally ruined something else.

Despite our occasional squabbles, Colet and I's love for each other grew stronger. We supported each other through our academic challenges, celebrated each other's successes, and were there for each other through thick and thin.

One day, laying on our queen size bed, a friend of mine sent a photo of a kitten and asking if we were ready to become a parent. Although we weren't sure, the kitten got out heart. Her eyes were big and round, and her fur was a soft, fluffy tuxedo cat. We couldn't resist her charm.

We took her home and named her Chibi, meaning "small" in Japanese. Chibi quickly became a beloved member of our little family. She loved to curl up on our laps, chase her tail, and play with our shoelaces.

Chibi added a whole new dimension to our lives. She brought us joy, laughter, and a sense of companionship that we hadn't experienced before. We loved watching her grow and learn, and we were amazed at how much love and affection she could pack into such a small body.

With Chibi by our side, our apartment in Baguio City felt even more like home. And as we continued to build our lives together, we knew that our furry kid would always be a part of our family.
