Picking up the kids from the Isle was not an easy task. While Carlos and Jay helped the twins prepare to leave, Evie helped Dizzy, and Mal and Ben helping Celia. Amber helped Astrid.
She expected it to be harder than it was, Astrid being around the same age as Amber and the other VKs, but she fit right in, making sassy comments, none of which—surprisingly—had to do with Repunzel or Gothel.
Once the kids were all in the limo that had brought Amber and her friends to the Isle, people swarmed the car, getttjng their last looks at the lucky winners who got to visit Auradon.
Slowly, the car made its way out. While Evie and Dizzy caught up, and Carlos and Jay tried to get the twins to open up, Amber and Astrid began to talk.
Amber learned immediately that Astrid had her own opinions on everything, not caring if anyone agreed with her or not.
"So," Astrid said, "what made you pick me? Pity? Cause I don't need your pity, I'm perfectly pitiful on my own."
"Not pity," Amber clarified, "I picked you because I want change. Our mothers obviously don't get along, but we can."
After a moment of silence, Astrid clearly thinking about what Amber had just said, she responded with, "I guess that makes sense, and I guess we could be friends."
"Good," Amber smiled, "cause I have some fun things planned for us!"
"Oh god," Astrid rolled her eyes, "please don't tell me we're going to eat chocolate covered strawberries and go on picnics."
"Now we aren't," Amber inwardly sighed. She had to come up with a new plan to keep Astrid entertained.
Astrid's reply to that was cut off as the car reached the barrier.
As the car went through the barrier and the crowd of people from the Isle waved goodbye, a figure crashed through the crowd, trying to get through the barrier.
"It's Hades," Evie exclaimed, the car coming to a stop and all ok the VKs and Amber getting out.
As Hades fought the barrier, Mal transformed into a dragon, fighting Hades as he shot a ray of blue light from a shiny blue rock.
As the two fought it out, Amber exchanged looks with Evie.
This wasn't good.
Mal eventually won, sending Hades back to his side of the Isle.
As they all returned to the car, Amber walked over to Mal.
"Are you alright?"
"No, I'm not!" Mal told her, giving her a serious look. "You know who that was," she added in whispered tones.
Amber did indeed know who it was. Hades, also Mal's father. As far as Amber knew, the only other person beside herself to know was Evie.
Nodding Amber walked Mal to the car as Evie came up behind them, making sure Mal was ok.
Once everyone was back in the car, Astrid let out a puff of air. "Holy shit!" she exclaimed, it's already getting exciting and we're not even halfway to Auradon!"

Back in Auradon, the new arrivals got situated in their new homes while Amber and Ethan caught up.
"So," Ethan began, "why did I receive such an urgent message from you to come home?"
"I've just been feeling out of place. Like I don't belong." Amber told him, going into detail about everything that he'd missed. About Mal and Ben, Uma, the wand, Harry, Uma and Harry taking her hostage, her escaping, Harry, and how before she left she had seen Harry in the bushes before she had escaped. How he didn't stop her, he just let her go.
"Well," Ethan began, "I'm not expert, but it sounds like you have a little crush on this Harry dude, I believe one might call it...stockholm syndrome."
"Excuse me?" Amber chocked out.
"Stockholm syndrome, y'know," Ethan began to explain, "when you fall in love with your captor!"
"Yeah I know what that is, but how could you say that?" Amber asked, annoyed. She wasn't in love with Harry.
"I say that because you've told a story that was supposed to be about your best friend getting caught and you sacrificing yourself so he could escape, but you've mentioned Harry more times then you've mentioned Ben," he chuckled, "or anyone else for that matter."
"Bullshit, that's bullshit." was all Amber could respond.
"Hey, whatever, I just call it how I see it, Amb," Ethan tousled her hair playfully.
"Yeah whatever, you call it wrong then."
"We'll see about that..." Ethan's grin growing wider as Amber's cheeks turned red.
