Amber sat, leaning against Ethan as Evie flitted around them, working on a new dress.

As the two siblings watched Evie work, Ethan bragged about his "studious conquests."

Evie shook her head in amusement, looking up every now and then to see Ethan gesturing wildly or Amber rolling her eyes at him.

Eventually, Mal joined them, a serious look on her face, which was Ethan's queue to leave.

He took the hint saying, "this looks like a serious matter, girl talk type shit, let me know when I'm cool enough to be included."

Once Ethan had left, Mal told Amber and Evie about how the crown and scepter had been stolen
from the museum.

"So who else knows about this?" Evie asks, taking a seat at the serious news.

"No one," Mal sighs, "I mean, think about it, people are scared enough as it is! We need to employ these entirely new security measures!"

"Will this delay bringing over more VKs?" Amber asks, looking over at Evie knowing it would kill her if the  answer was a yes.

"We're talking about closing the barrier for good," Mal crosses her arms, a defeated look on her face.

"But you said no," Evie reasons.

Mal pauses for a second. A second that told Amber that Mal hadn't said anything of the sort.

"I mean," Evie begins to panic, "the four of us are living the dream here and we finally get to share that!"

"Yeah," Mal agrees, "I know."

"Well, maybe we could get some security for Auradon," Amber thought aloud, "at least some peace of mind."

"Is that what they're thinking?" Evie asks Mal, "are they really saying that we may never be able to go back the the Isle? To get more kids and to let the ones already visit?"

This took Amber by surprise. The thought of never going back to the Isle made her sad. She liked it there. Even when she was held captive by Uma, it wasn't the worst. It got the inspiration flowing, the songs began to come naturally to her again, and the thought of never being able to go back, never being able to see him again made her unhappy.

Fuck.

She hated how much power Harry held over her. He had fucking helped Uma hold her captive.

But he had let her escape too...

No. No. That was no excuse.
