Life was like a dream filled with ups and downs, joys and sorrows, love and hate. Until you woke up to discover that you had fallen into a different dimension. Some would regret leaving the beautiful dream, and some would regret the things they had done. There would also be people who were content because, throughout that dream, they had lived a happy life.

But what about those who had never tasted happiness?

For them, disillusionment seemed like liberation, a release from God's grace.

...

Tan Duat never thought that Quach Phuong would ever voluntarily leave him. In Tan Duat's memory, Quach Phuong had always stayed up late in the living room waiting for him, sometimes at the cold dinner table. No matter how late, she was always there, unwavering.

Perhaps when a person received someone's love for too long, we would start to believe that they were always there, and assume that they couldn't live without us.

But have you ever thought that on an ordinary day, upon waking from a dream, the person beside your pillow might no longer be there?

Tan Duat groggily woke up, stretching to enjoy the early morning sunlight. Glancing to his side, as usual, there was an empty space without even a single wrinkle.

Quach Phuong was meticulous, as if she had an obsession.

Entering the bathroom, Tan Duat leisurely went through his morning routine. While shaving, he couldn't help but imagine Quach Phuong waving a ladle back and forth, and saying: "Tan Duat, breakfast is ready!" Then he would remind her of last night's conversation, telling her he wanted to delay the divorce for a while. He wondered how happy that woman would be?

Thinking of this, Tan Duat suddenly burst out laughing, which caused the razor to nick his skin, blood slowly oozed out, causing pain. He quickly washed his face. Looking in the mirror, he noticed the small cut on his face, and couldn't help but frown.

Quach Phuong would definitely nag at him for being careless.

But sadly, he might never have the chance to hear Quach Phuong's voice again.

Tan Duat's house was always neat and tidy. Before marrying Quach Phuong, he had been drowning in negativity and despair after Nhan Tinh had abruptly left abroad without saying a word. His home had become a wreck, littered with beer bottles, clothes strewn everywhere, and the curtains were drawn tightly without any light coming in. But from the day Quach Phuong moved in, the house had become more vibrant, with the atmosphere of a real home.

However, the vivid figure that should have appeared by now was nowhere to be seen. Tan Duat's mind gradually became panicked, but he calmed himself, perhaps she was in the kitchen making breakfast, or out on the balcony hanging laundry. Tan Duat went down to the living room, and saw a familiar sheet of A4 paper lying on the table. His eyelids trembled, he slowly approached the table, and picked it up.

It was the divorce papers. Quach Phuong had already signed her name.

There was still a blank space left for his signature.

On that day, because he was in a hurry to pick up Nhan Tinh from the airport, he had casually tossed the divorce papers at her without signing them himself. But now, Tan Duat lacked the strength to put down his pen.

Tan Duat looked around, and called out: "Quach Phuong! Quach Phuong!"

"Quach Phuong, you haven't left yet, right?"

"Quach Phuong..."

Tan Duat rubbed his face, his eyes were still filled with panic. He dragged his limp body into the kitchen, breakfast had already been prepared, and placed on the table. There were notes scattered everywhere.
