SEREN’S POV

The sun had dipped below the horizon, casting a twilight glow over the beach. The final touches on the wedding setup were complete, and as the last of the guests began to arrive, I took a moment to catch my breath.

My three friends, Ava, Sabrina, and Mary, were still bustling around, putting out the last-minute details. They’d been a tremendous help today, and I was grateful for their support.

The day had been long and tiring, and I was looking forward to a quiet moment to unwind. As I stood by the edge of the beach, surveying the scene, I heard the sound of a car approaching.

My heart skipped a beat when I realized it was Jovana’s car. I hadn’t expected her to come here, especially after such a demanding day. I quickly made my way over to greet her.

Jovana stepped out of the car, her presence immediately soothing. “Hey, Love,” she said with a warm smile. “I thought I’d come by and pick you up. How’s everything going?”

Before I could respond, Ava, Sabrina, and Mary, who had been watching from a distance, started to make their way toward us with knowing smiles.

“Jovana, hi! I’m Mary” Mary greeted her with enthusiasm. “It’s great to finally meet you in person. Serena’s been telling us so much about you.”

Jovana extended her hand, her smile never wavering. “Hi, Mary. It’s nice to meet you too.”

Ava gave Jovana a friendly nod. “I’m Ava. It’s nice to meet the woman who’s been making Serena so happy.”

Jovana’s cheeks turned a slight pink as she glanced at me. “Well, it’s been quite a journey, but it’s been wonderful.”

Sabrina always the one with the most direct questions, raised an eyebrow. “So, Jovana, we’ve heard about you from Serena. But what’s it like working in oncology? It sounds intense.”

Jovana chuckled softly. “It definitely is. But it’s also incredibly rewarding. Every day is different, and there’s a lot of focus on supporting patients through some of their most challenging times.”

Mary leaned in, clearly interested. “I bet it must be fulfilling to make such a difference in people’s lives. How did you end up in this field?”

Jovana looked thoughtful for a moment. “My mother passed away from cancer when I was younger, and I wanted to find a way to help others who were going through similar experiences. That’s what drove me to pursue oncology.”

Ava nodded sympathetically. “I’m sorry to hear about your mother. That’s a very powerful reason for choosing this path.”

Jovana smiled appreciatively. “Thank you. It’s something that’s always been close to my heart.”

Sabrina always quick with the playful banter, grinned. “So, Jovana, we already knew that you and Serena are together. How’s it going so far?”

Jovana’s gaze softened as she looked at me. “It’s been amazing. We’ve been seeing each other for a couple of months now, and every day just feels better.”

Mary’s eyes sparkled with curiosity. “So, Ano yung pinaka memorable moment na ginawa nyong dalawa?"

Jovana thought for a moment before responding. “Well everythings feels memorable as long as I’m with her. But there was a day kung saan tatlong araw kaming mag kasama ni Serena, pumunta kami sa abandunadong lugar and nag camping malapit doon, pumunta rin kami sa secret spot which is meroong falls, dinala ko ron si Serena because she loves waterfalls, and for the last day nag hike kaming dalawa and at the peak we painted, that’s the memorable moment of me and Serena."

Mary nudged me playfully. “Sounds like you’ve been having some great times. We’re glad to see you so happy.”

I couldn’t help but smile at Jovana, feeling a surge of warmth at her words. “I’ve been really happy too. Jovana’s been incredible.”

As we continued chatting, the conversation flowed easily. Mia asked Jovana about her favorite parts of Manila, and Jovana shared stories about her recent adventures. Ava inquired about the challenges of working in oncology, and Jovana offered insights into the emotional and practical aspects of her job. Sabrina, ever the inquisitor, wanted to know about Jovana’s plans for the future and how she balanced her demanding career with her personal life.

The beach was now alive with the soft glow of lanterns and fairy lights, and the sound of gentle waves created a serene backdrop for our conversation. Jovana’s presence was a comforting balm after the hectic day, and my friends seemed genuinely pleased to get to know her better.

As the first guests started to take their seats and the wedding ceremony was about to begin, I felt a wave of gratitude for both Jovana and my friends. They had all been a significant part of my life recently, and their support meant the world to me.

Jovana looked around, taking in the beautiful setup. “Everything looks fantastic, love. You did an amazing job.”

I smiled, feeling a sense of accomplishment and contentment. “Thank you, love. Your support really helped me get through today.”

My friends gave us encouraging smiles as the ceremony began. Jovana and I stood together, feeling a renewed sense of connection and support. With her by my side, I knew that no matter how busy or challenging the day had been, we would face it together.

The soft hum of the car engine and the gentle sway of the road were calming after the whirlwind of the wedding. Jovana was driving, her hand resting on the gearshift while the other held the steering wheel with a relaxed grip. I leaned back in the passenger seat, feeling a mix of exhaustion and contentment after a long day.

“Thanks for coming to the wedding, love,” I said, breaking the comfortable silence between us. “It really meant a lot to me.”

Jovana glanced at me with a warm smile. “Of course, love. I’m glad I could be there. You did an amazing job today.”

I smiled, feeling a bit of the stress from the day ease away. “I’m glad it went well. I was a little worried things wouldn’t come together in time.”

Jovana shook her head. “Everything looked perfect. I could see how much effort you put into it.”

Curious about how Jovana’s day had been, I asked, “So, how was your day? Anything interesting happen?”

Jovana thought for a moment before answering. “It was pretty busy. I had a few patient consultations and some paperwork to catch up on. But nothing too out of the ordinary. How about you? How did everything go with the setup?”

“It was hectic,” I admitted with a chuckle. “There were a few last-minute changes, but we managed to handle them. I’m just glad it’s over and everything went smoothly.”

Jovana nodded in understanding. “I can imagine. It must feel good to finally relax after all that work.”

“Definitely,” I said. “I’m looking forward to a quiet evening at home.”

Jovana’s gaze softened as she looked at me. “I’m glad I could be here to support you. I know how much these events mean to you.”

I smiled at her, feeling a deep sense of appreciation. “Thank you, love. It means a lot to have you by my side.”

Jovana turned her attention back to the road, a contented smile on her lips. “I’m happy to be here. And it’s nice to see you so happy and relaxed after the wedding.”

As we continued driving, the soft glow of the streetlights and the gentle rhythm of the car made for a peaceful journey. I felt a comforting sense of connection with Jovana, knowing that no matter how busy or stressful life became, we could always rely on each other.
