Chapter 3: Hidden Scars

Everyone looked at me horrified at what I've shown. Crafty was the first one to come to me. Other than Dogday, she was my second best friend around here since we share common interests. "Catnap, who did this to you?" She asked. "It was the employees," I said. Again, everyone gasped to my response as if watching my scars wasn't horrifying enough. "Let me look at them," Bubba said. He came closer to me to examine my scars. "These scars are caused by whipping," Bubba said. "How can you tell?" Picky asked. "These scars are like burn marks but show a significant mark that something hot hit him at a fast pace," Kickin said. "Good observation Kickin. Get the medkit in my room. It should be near my bedroom bookshelf," Bubba said. "Okay, I'll be back," Kickin said. Kickin left the room while the others kept their concern for me. "Why did you hide this from us Catnap?" Bobby asked. "Because I was afraid that if I tell you, then you'll feel the same pain I had felt and I couldn't let that happen. Dogday was the most difficult to hide these scars since he knows me better than everyone and I couldn't bear to see him hurt. Which is why we need a plan to protect Dogday at all costs. I can't lose him," I said.

All of them looked at each other and nodded in agreement. "We hear you Catnap. We know how much you care for Dogday so we will do whatever it takes to protect him and each other," Hoppy said confidently. "Thanks. You guys are the best," I said. "Naturally," Hoppy said in a cocky voice. "I think he's talking about me, Hops," Kickin said. "Hey, no fighting. Remember, we're here to plan ahead of the Prototype plans," I said. Both of them looked at me with an awkward gaze. "Sorry dude, we got carried away," Kickin said. "That's fine," I said. "Give me the medkit Kickin," Bubba said. Kickin came closer and handed the medkit to Bubba as he opened it to take out the bandages. Both of them wrapped bandages around my scars. Surprisingly, Kickin is very good at making sure the scars are healing faster as if he is a medical professional. Come to think of it, Bubba and Kickin had been hanging around much more than normally which is strange for me considering both of them are polar opposites to each other. Ironically me and Dogday as well but were not super close as Kickin and Bubba. "There, the bandages are in place and your scars will heal much faster. If everything goes right then it should go away by morning," Kickin said. "Since when did you act like a medical professional Kickin?" Hoppy asked. "Since I am stuck with Bubba as his job partner in school and medical. It's why I act a bit more smart than usual," Kickin said. "Yet dumb at the same time," Hoppy jokes.

"Relax Hoppy, sooner or later or maybe never, you'll have the heart to do something professionally other than jumping around making a fool around yourself," Kickin said. "Okay guys. What did I say?" I said irritated. They both looked at me again with an awkward gaze in silence. "Okay, so what do we do with Dogday? How can we make him not get in danger and think about the others without putting his life in danger?" Kickin said. We all think long and hard for another foolproof strategy to pull. "What if I keep him somewhere away from the troubles. I can knock him out with my gas and keep him somewhere but I don't know where," I said. "How about the playhouse," Kickin said. We all looked at him, interested in what he had to say. "The playhouse has these small rooms that look like cages in the lower level. If you keep Dogday in there long enough after whatever happens then you can get him out of there and bring him here," Kickin said.

"If that's so then we need to fix this place up to make it our own home," Bubba said. "Right, so we need to clear out the first, second and third floor. Now that we know how we can protect Dogday out of the Prototype's eyes, we need to keep ourselves safe and sheltered in this place and I know how we can do it," I said. I looked at Bubba, "Bubba, can you and the rest be in charge of this after you saved the kids?" I asked. "We can, but what is it that you want us to do?" Bubba asked. "I'm glad you asked because this entirety of this giant home is getting remodeled," I said. Everyone looks excited as if they forgot the reason why we're doing this but I don't want to let down the mood. "So what's the floor plan you're thinking of Catnap?" Bubba asked. "First, absolutely no one should be on the first floor. Anyone can peak through the windows, especially the Prototype so the first floor should be messy and disorganized. Perfect to fool the prototype," I said.
